How old is your daughter? I find that most people interested in TOPS have missed the cut-off. My 10yr old daughter is scheduled to go to TOPS National Testing in June. I can't imagine getting her prepared for this without specialized coaching. The skills needed for the skills test are pretty far...
So interesting and yet TOPS is for 8-10 yr olds and requires skills equal to level 7 or maybe even 8 (I'm not well versed in the skills of each level).
Last year when I commented on this thread we were in the process of leaving our old gym for a gym with more technical training.
Reading over this thread I am reassured that we made the right decision. My daughter's current coach is a stickler on handstands. Reading back over this thread just...
As far as the teammates support... while it sucks it can be a part of the sport. I have just told my daughter that she doesn't go to the gym every day for friends, she goes to do gymnastics. I encourage he to be a good teammate but I also help her see that her gymnastics cannot be dependant on...
Yes!! That sounds like my daughter exactly! Handstands are such a challenge and she is training for TOP's (supposed to do a minute hold handstand). We have been working the handstands by the wall, thanks for that advice!
I'm so glad to hear that my thoughts of the flexibility and these...

So my brother is a musician that has lots of equipment and feels he is setup to do this. I was hoping to hear from people that have done it.
I know nothing about this!!
Can I bump this thread? This past weekend was the last skills testing, I believe. I know we are anxiously waiting to hear who will be invited to National Testing!!
I agree with the others, levels 5 & 6 are almost the same. Personally I think level 5 is important because it makes the gymnast do the tougher details that create a good foundation for higher levels and bigger skills. In my opinion, level 6 is so similar to level 5 except the routines can be...
Changing gyms is hard in the best situations, relationships are built throughout a gymnastics journey and walking away from those relationships is hard in many way... even when there isn't added drama.
I would recomend that you and your daughter give yourselves grace. Acknowledge the hard...
