I recently moved to a better gym for a very similar reason. Honestly, I would have left a lot sooner had I recognized that I couldn't learn anything at my old gym anymore.
It's pretty hard to find the signs, but really I'd just look out for plateau's, especially if you are strong/brave enough...
At my old gym they wouldn't teach yurchenkos at all, even in level 10. The biggest reason for this was that my coach didn't really know how to teach a proper yurchenko. However, we've had a girl or two do a yurchenko layout in level 9, but they simply didn't have it mastered enough and would...
The excels at my gym usually work out around 9 hours a week, but some of the less dedicated ones only go 6 or even 3 hours a week. The program at our gym isn't very rigorous.
I know just what you mean! I lost 30 minutes of workout yesterday because our coach was talking to us. But, if this is happening every time, then that's not a good thing.
Unless someone could find a way to off handedly tell him that they'd actually like to get out there and DO some of the...
We have rough beams at our gym. They take a little getting used to, but you learn to love them. It's almost always what you will end up competing on as well.
Just saying, it IS possible to slip off the beam (I tried and succeeded, yes!), but it eventually feels a lot safer.
Maybe turning...
It must be frustrating to be working on a series that is worth the exact same thing as your old one. However, as comfortable as you were with your old series, bhs layout step out is a MUCH better series.
Not only does it flow better, but if you look at elite gymnasts, almost every time they...
My coaches are good, I just don't trust our CoP. I think it might actually be to date, but it is torn up, pages are missing, and there is really no hope to find out what is going on.
I know that you only get connection bonus in level 9. By skill "worth" I meant is the skill an A, B, C, etc...
I'm going to be in level 9 this year, and all my coaches seem to have very different opinions on what skills are worth and how to earn bonus. Our CoP is outdated, so I don't trust it.
I just have a few quick clarification questions...
What is a straddle back on bars worth? I would be doing...
If you twist early, you can get a bit lost.
Like previously said, try to go back and relearn all your twists, a 1/2 turn at a time. Just remember to set before you twist so you go later.
The second your feel your cast start to level out near handstand, switch your first hand for the pirouette. That way you'll be able to pirouette BEFORE you hit handstand, so you can finish the pirouette in handstand.
If you finish the pirouette in handstand, it's MUCH easier to hold your feet...
I switch my thumbs in my kip so that way they are under in my cast. When I drop into a kip, giant, or clearhip I move them back over the bar so they don't get in the way. :P
I've actually fixed the front handspring now, it turned out that my first foot was turned out too much so I slipped. Imagine that!
When I'm off in my aerial, its usually not by much, so I think I should just do hundreds and hundreds until I have it down so well that I don't even think about...
