I may have found an air awareness drill ... or I may have just found a fun way to get dizzy.

Basically, the drill is just walking, stretching, turning, or balancing (especially balancing) with your eyes closed. Doesn't require equipment. In fact, equipment is discouraged as that will certainly cause injuries. When I did this, it forced me to pay close attention to where I set my feet and my surroundings.

Is there validity in this idea? Or is this just wishful thinking?

I probably wouldn't do this as a drill for air awareness, since you should use your eyes as much as possible for that.

I can see it being useful for dance/choreography, perhaps; keeping an awareness of where you are on the floor, where each step takes you, etc.

It's called proprioceptive training and it's very important, but I would explore valid methods that are already developed (by a PT for instance).
