Just need to vent...why is it so bad?? I used to think the really old Level 6 music I used (what some refer to as the "funeral music") was bad. Sadly, it seems that is my favorite of the past 20 years. It seems to me they go about it all wrong. It looks like they make the routine and then find someone to write music to it. But that's never how routines work otherwise! You should know the major elements, yes, but you need to do the music first. I come from a musical background, so maybe i'm just being pickier than most, but ugh! Level 4 is like attack of the blaring trumpet and Level 5, i feel like I'm caught between a renaissance fair and a coney island circus gone bad.

Also, why the three choices of the same song? That just seems like it would lead to confusion. I can see a kid starting out because the music sounds the same, and then getting confused because all of a sudden, there's trumpet where she is used to hearing a piano. I don't get it. USAG needs some people with musical backgrounds to work for them on this.

I actually enjoy the level 4 music is almost like Caribbean salsa!! Level 3 however I would rather drag my nails on a chalk board!! And level 5 isn't too bad but definitely has circus like qualities!!

I don't think the level 5 music is awful (all I've heard so far). I prefer the strings and piano arrangements though. The flute/bells arrangement is so high pitched.

I think it is good there are some options to save the judges and coaches a little, but also so the gymnasts can work with developing musicality to different arrangments.

Both the level 4 and 5 music show all the telltale signs of being produced by somebody who was either very inexperienced, very lazy, or very rushed. The old music may have been compositionally bland, but at least it was well-produced (and used live instruments). The brass in the level 4 music is so fake it's painful, and I can hear the string sample looping in the level 5 music.
I know none of this really has any bearing on the routines themselves, but it still irritates me that the production is so blatantly amateur

I haven't heard it but is it worse than the previous striptease music?

Very slightly, yes.

Well, better-written. Not as well produced.

Music report, Well I listened to ALL of it yesterday..... And I have decided that we are an optional ONLY gym from this point further...... kidding, but wishing.....
