The Chalk Bucket

If it has to do with gymnastics and it doesn't fit in any other forum...post it here.
Do you love MIOBI?...Is it your favorite show? Talk about it in this thread.
This discussion is to have no real names...no real organizations...no links to current news...no accusations...etc. The goal of this thread is to vaguely discuss the logistics behind banning a member from a sports organization. I believe it is much more complex than many people believe. The laws in various countries are very complex. The laws of countries CAN be discussed in this thread. Country bashing is not allowed. Once again...don't even hint towards something that is real...or...
I have also got a friend who has written a children's gymnastics book I would like to let CB members know about. (I don't want to hijack, so mods please move this if you feel it should go somewhere else). The writer is a gym dad and the book is about his daughter: http://goodheartbooks.com/
Has anyone gone? Is it worth the ticket price, or do they just do lower level skills? We have been underwhelmed by the dual ice skating/gymnastic type events that get televised, but since this tour will be coming to our area, we are curious if it is worth going to.
Ok so my mom ordered wrist supports last week prior to this I went to the doctors and he said that he couldn't find anything wrong but recommended wrist supports to ease pain. I just got them today and i haven't said anything to my coaches about it . 1) Its really hard for me to approach/talk to people, my coaches included. I get really anxious and nervous that i will either say the wrong thing, they won't like me or they will be mad at me. If i do say the wrong thing, it will haunt me...
okay when I do a FHS on the vault im arching down and im not sure How to fix it ... And I have a fast run and my coach says to keep my toes up but I dont understand how to do that .. Any advice ??
My daughter has never competed on the JO track. Before competing Level 5, she switched to the prep optional track and has stayed there for years. She has been very successful and has competed at the Platinum level for the past two years - this would be her third and last year as she is in 12th grade. She does a pike tsuk (working on layout), double on floor etc, and has taken several 1st places at States against girls who once competed Level 9 and even 10. So for all you worriers, prep...
Hi I know that in my state we have our state championships this weekend and was going to wish luck to all the Aussies going to state over this weekend, i know some of you have competed but good luck to all involved!
My team has 8 girls on it. The day I met two of the girls, they were giving me the looks. Though, there's one girl, Grace, who's super sweet, and nice, and will stick up for anyone. Anyway, at practice, Grace wasn't at practice, she's on vacation. Warmups were pretty normal, pretty slow and quiet. We train floor first. We stacked 2 spotting blocks on top of each other by the pit. Between the blocks and the pit, we put a mini trampoline. We could either do handstand, back tumbling, OR stand...
Is it beneficial for a level 9 to have a double back in her floor routine? Taking risk and reward into account.. Do the judges normally reward for having a difficult pass like a double back since it takes risk and there is a greater chance for a mistake.? Is it better to take a risk and do a more difficult pass; one that could be more impressive for both judges and spectators?
Really cute leo and name, Tumbleo's is adorable!!
I am looking for new floor music, and i really need some help. I've checked out youtube about a million times with no results. My coach told me that I have to find new music fast or else I have to use my old music, which I really dont like. Does anyone know where I can look at floor music? It's ok if i have to pay for the music, as long as it isnt too expensive. Thanks
I get home from (private) school at 5:30. Team practice begins at 4:45 and if I wanted to compete (which I do!) I don't exactly know how I'd do this. Of course, I would talk to my coach but first I need to know whether this is actually reasonable. Of course I know that education comes first, but apparently not everybody agrees. Anybody have advice? My high school doesn't have a team, and I just want to get out of rec classes and into a more level-appropriate program. Any ideas? Thank...
DD loves this music and would like to use it but we can't figure out the name. Does naybody know the name of this music? Anna Dementyeva - Floor Music 2010_2011(EXACT VERSION!) - YouTube
Hello! I'm looking for some advice. My daughter is in a developmental program at our local gym. She is almost 6 and she has been in gymnastics since she was 2 1/2. The program is a pre preteam where 4+5 year olds learn skills to be ready for preteam. They meet twice a week for an hour. This program is only for kids that are selected by the coaches. She has been in this program for 2 full years including the summers. Hopefully in September she will be moving to pre team. This summer the...
I've been dealing with some some severe tendonitis pain in my left wrist. My mom says my only two options are work through the pain and condition(. My coach makes me condition when I can't stand the pain) or quit. I love gymnastics it's just that it's not that fun anymore with pain and having to condition mostly every practice for the whole day. I want to take time off but my parents say that they don't want to pay the money because I would be missing practice. If I take too much time off it...
Okay here's the story, My split change wolf jump is in my beam routine and has a 0.2 bonus for doing the split change. I do not always connect it and i generally wobble during or after. Basically it is a built in deduction. I ask my coach to take it out for state and just do split leap - no bonus but a whole heap less deductions. She then tells me no and that I should have been working on it this week and not gone away and I realise its stupid to go away 3 weeks from state but it is our...
Im really happy with the selections and devastated for Bross and Liukin, but i think their time has come. Maybe this is just me but i dont think that the 2012 team has is a good form wise compared to the 2008 team. Super excited for the Olympics now:)
Only am finding info on this past year's nationals in WI. Are there meets throughout the season, and if so, how do I find a schedule? I live in TN. Do you need to pre-qualify for nationals or no, and where can I find info on the different levels, etc.?
My coach (gym owner) has started a pre team at the gym this summer, and I have been coaching it with a wonderful mom of one of my teammates! There are 11 girls; most of them are ages 5-8 and have been in gymnastics for about a year or so. Recently my coach told me to start working on level 3 routines with them, but I was skeptical because many of the girls on our team are just starting the level 3 routines, so I thought pre team would be doing level 1 or 2. Anyway, today we started teaching...
I know we often focus on questions and concerns, but I just want to say how much we love our gym and how happy we are with our decision to go there! Feeling really lucky right now! What a relief... Thanks so much to our coaches and teammates and families for making our gym awesome.
Hey guys! I know a lot of people say it's mainly just a "show" and not like a high level skill performance, but my dad's work got us 4 free tickets and parking! So why not go? (: I'm excited! It's in a suite too! I'm taking one of my friends from gym. (: I'm excited!
