Trifecta complete! Puma Jr is USAIGC 11 yr old Bronze Uneven Bars State, Regional and World Champ! (This is the part where I say yes I know USAIGC isn’t as competitive as JO and yes it’s a little crazy it’s called “Worlds” lol...but I’m still super happy for her! )She also is 2nd on beam. Who knew?! Lol She pulled her best beam routine of her life out at the right time. Her Bronze sessions went great actually (AA, then top 15 of 42 made Event Finals and competed again the next day in the events they qualified for. She had her best Bronze floor of the season AND was almost made Vault EF, tying for 16th place. Yeah running coach!! She was fifth AA. The Silver AA session went well, she did not have a good Silver bar routine for her, but it was good enough to tie for third and make EF. And her Silver floor was awesome! 9.175 for 14th place, they took the top 12 (of 37) to EF and two tied for 12th so they took them both. I think first kid to not get into EF on your “bonus event” is pretty awesome! But Silver EF....uggg...the magic had to end. She fell on the squat on. Totally uncharacteristic. Some friends pointed out that she actually kind of saved it? (I have video) Like she somehow still caught the bar, but either way, it was an awful routine and dropped her to fifth :( The winner was an 8.875, which she has beaten every time except the one tragic learning how to fuel for two sessions meet. So 7 of 8 times. Her score from her sub-par AA routine would have even won. But, this is how this crazy sport goes! I’m still super proud of her and her awesome season! We celebrated at Disney and are now en route home. Thanks as always for following the adventures of Puma Jr! :)

Thank you! You saw the video-can you explain what she did? (I can send said video to any regular CBer who is interested)
Ok, so what she did is she got the squat on, but lost her balance, basically jumped off the back side and kipped back up - pretty sure her feet didnt even touch the mat. It was like a release move. It is something we teach our Optionals to do to save the fall ;) But they arent as good at is as Puma Jr was!

LOL! Thanks...but it was a hot mess! Oh well, it was still an awesome meet overall. She was disappointed, but this crazy rollercoaster sport does teach life lessons. Thanks for explaining!

If it hadnt been for the loss of balance, it wouldnt have been such an awesome save though - it would have just been an unusual release move ... and POSSIBLY an illegal move at her level (I am not sure on that one) ;)
You are quite welcome.

You know I’ve seen the video.. and well, I do think it was clearly a fall.. BUT... I think that detracts not one single little bit from her amazing season, meet, session- even rotation. She’s got too much to be proud of to let a fall bring it down any notches (even Simone falls- or Regan if you prefer- lol). I’m so proud of how much she’s improved!

So, so, SO very excited for both of you!

Ok, so I made an iMovie of all 9 routines. I am NOT very tech savvy so sorry it’s not too fancy! I used the same code as I always do, but if you don’t know it I’ll pm it to anyone interested! I just get nervous about creepers when it’s on a main forum. Just remember she’s not a TOPS kid or anything! (And her Silver bars are usually sooo much better) I’m still super proud! :) Thanks for everyone’s kind words and support :)

Anyone who watches, notice for her Bronze floor that the music not only cuts out, but comes back in with the wrong song for about 6 seconds! Then ends on the correct song. Uggggg...super proud she punched through it and still ended up with a 9.05 :)

I loved watching her video! She looked very polished and confident on all events. Will she be a silver the next season? What are the requirements in silver?

I'm a bit surprised to see how high are the bronze requirements, given that it's the second level in the USAIGC program. It seems like a pretty competitive program.

Always great to see great gymnastics by dedicated and hardworking gymnasts! Keep up the good work!

I do have a question how do you compete in bronze and silver both? Also we're you guys at Nationals in Tampa?
Usaigc allows for girls to compete up as specialists if one or two events are strong enough for the higher level competition. You still compete them at the lower level as well, just usually with tweaks to meet the requirements of each level.

(I believe world’s/nationals were in Orlando)

Thank you! Our girls competed AAU Nationals in Tampa . I didn't realize there were so many "Nationals" :) how many "groups" or leagues are there?
