Parents dilemma - please please help.

Gymnastics is such a long journey and most girls never even make it to level 10 let alone national teams. I would go with the gym that does the best job of fostering attitudes and mind sets that will serve her well outside of the gym, not just gymnastics skills... Hard work, focus, perseverance...

    Parents Probability of scholarships.

We have a friend whose daughter was a successful multi-year level 10 gymnast. She didn't want to do college gym but opted to do cheer at FSU. They said they didn't know of any cheer scholarships but their daughter did receive a small stipend to be used on hair, make-up, tanning, gym membership, etc.

I absolutely agree. This was from a parent meeting I attended when my daughter was 6. She's 9 now. Things have definitely changed in 3 years.

Based on the guidelines from our old gym she could definitely still do D2 & D3. D1 would be a very long shot. In an earlier post I mentioned 2 girls from DD's old gym that were able to get D1 scholarships after reaching level 10 as Juniors. After revisiting it I realized that I was mistaken...

    Parents Probability of scholarships.

I was so happy that we received this info when my daughter was just starting out at age 6. New gym (which we really like) doesn't do this and I see so many parents with 10 and 11 year old level 3's spending hundreds of extra dollars on privates and additional classes thinking their DD might get...

Let me try those first 2 images again. Again, this was the GUIDELINE for DD's old gym. This gym produces D1 scholarship recipients regularly. guideline for D1 Guideline for D2 & D3

This is another slide from the same parent presentation that was intended to level-set new gym parents. This was from the year before the level changes went into effect so when it refers to "level 4" that is what we now know as level 3.

    Parents Probability of scholarships.

This was part of a parents meeting that DD's old gym did annually with new gym parents. Gym owner said he started breaking this stuff down for parents after too many heartbreaking conversations with parents of 15 years old level 7's that wanted to know when they were going to start working on...

    Parents Probability of scholarships.

Problem is, it's not just about making it to level 10 but it's about making it to level 10 at a young enough age to be a multi year level 10 as most D1 programs look for girls that have several years as a level 10. DD's old gym said that in order to realistically be considered for a D1...

WAG Why do they place all the way out?

USAG compulsory does not medal all the way out. Had a couple of meets this past season where my daughter walked away empty handed. Some of her meets they didn't even medal out 50%. When my daughter did AAU compulsory they medaled all the way out for AA only.

    WAG Gyms in Shreveport

We will be in Shreveport for a couple of weeks. Anyone know of reputable gyms in the area that allow visitors. I have a level 3 that can't imagine not working out for that long so I would like to see if I can find a gym that's not on break.
