    Parents Artistic and Rhythmic

100% agree! Rhythmic gymnasts train extremely hard and they do not get as much recognition as they would deserve. :(

    Parents Artistic and Rhythmic

My youngest (just turned 8 yo) competed DP level 3 artistic and Xcel Bronze rhythmic this past season. She is scared of RO BHS so she has decided to drop artistic and focus on rhythmic starting next week. She will compete level 5 rhythmic next season. Her main complain is the flexibility...

Parents More Options: Acro & Tumbling And College Club Gymnastics

How does a gymnast learn stunting if there are no gyms offering Acro & Tumbling in your area? Joining a cheer team?

WAG Minimum age for USAG DP level 4

Hi, I believe the minimum age is 7 to compete level 4. Is it 7 by the date of the meet or 7 by December 31st of that year? Thanks!

    Parents Fears

Sadly not all gyms are willing to substitute skills. :( Glad they did that for your daughter.

    Parents Fears

Thank you! What baffles me is that her coaches think she is purposefully not doing the skills, sigh. And they are experienced coaches...so I am so confused! She is currently working with a sports psychologist. Hopefully that helps!

    Parents Fears

I wonder the same thing. I feel that around 10 yo is when they realize what they are doing is dangerous. my DD was 10 yo and level 8 last year and suddenly lost confidence right before the start of competition season. She could not bring herself to do her series on beam or her dismount and the...

Gym opening data in the US by state

Apparently gymnastics gyms in MA were given the green light to reopen in Phase 2. Just got an email that my DD's gym in MA is opening next Monday if the Governor approves the starting of Phase 2 then :)

Gym opening data in the US by state

My DD's gym is saying they are not sure if they fall under Phase 2 or Phase 3 (Gyms). Phase 3 would be June 29th at the earliest.

    Parents Competitive swimming after gymnastics?

Oh yes, she is totally done with gymnastics. It took her a year to accept it but she's finally understood that having constant back pain and being scared to the point of having anxiety is not worth it. A week ago she thought she could compete one more season and then be done but after the...

    Parents Competitive swimming after gymnastics?

So I took my daughter to be evaluated at a successful swim club in our area and as you and others thought, the coaches loved her! They said that they see her spending a year in one of their junior teams improving her technique and then moving to their senior team. And you know what, they have...

    Parents Competitive swimming after gymnastics?

@txgymfan and @Sk8ermaiden I could not agree more with both of you! We left a gym a year ago because they were physically and mentally abusive, sigh. The current gym is much better overall. Still, it does not seem to be a good fit for my eldest daughter because of her back problems. I have a...

    Parents Competitive swimming after gymnastics?

Thank you for the information. I believe that here in the US some 13 year olds also train 6-9 sessions/week. At this point her only goal is to find out if she can successfully transition from gymnastics to swimming. It seems that should be possible according to the various replies above. I will...

    Parents Competitive swimming after gymnastics?

Great information -thank you! And I agree in trying to get her involved now. I am going to set up an evaluation with a local club and see what they say. I think their summer practices do not overlap with gymnastics so at least she could give it a try and see if she likes it.
