Is she five then? How long has she been practicing with team? I don't think I would care for a gym that just boots her instead of working with her. Do they have a pre team program instead of Rec that she could go to?
I don't get it, my kid would be in so much trouble for climbing like that anywhere but the gym or playground. Can you imagine if they fell? I guarantee you they would be looking at holding the store responsible.
I started to go down the wrong road on hours for my youngest. She was invited to...
I'm not in Raleigh, but fairly close and see those gyms at a lot of our meets. I have been impressed with coaches from TAG and Sonshine. I haven't gotten a good vibe from BC, but I don't have anything concrete to say about them.
Our gym was considering switching from xcel to JO for compulsories after we had some coaching changes. The decision not to was because of some of the concerns addressed in this thread. We will continue to have some girls score out of 4 and 5 and move to level 6 or stay in xcel for platinum and...
Bless this mess, Simone is spot on. Perry spent all her time trying to get the Nike endorsement, now Bono has closed that door before even being put in place.
I have a 7 year old competing bronze this year, she started gymnastics about a year ago. Her baby sister is 4 and was invited to pre team today. They are going as young as 3 for pre team.
The hours are fine, just two one hour practices a week, but I'm a little concerned about the fun aspect...
I am completely grossed out by that coach. Bleeding and crying children shouldn't be mocked. Instead of taking some of the feedback and spending some time thinking about if what she's doing is healthy she immediately doubled down and pitched the equivalent of a toddler's tantrum "I DO WHAT I...
Yes, the owner/coach has said it doesn't relate to anyone involved at his gym. I'm assuming someone would have reported this incident and it seems to be beyond the bounds of credibility that a 13 year old consensual affair would have been reported or a suspension would have resulted from a report.
A coach/owner was suspended this summer by the USAG. The individual and their attorney are stating that this is due to a consensual affair with another coach 13 years ago.
Is that something that would actually trigger a suspension?
This thread is rubbing me the wrong way. False claims of abuse are rare, false claims of sexual abuse even more rare. It is statistically more likely that a child will remain silent about abuse than make a false claim. Statistically false claims are in the 2-8% range. To translate that means...
Take my advice for what it's worth, my kid competes xcel and is probably skill wise on track with your kids. Don't make decisions about something that could happen 5-10 years from now but won't for the vast majority of us. If they're happy now and you're the only one annoyed stick it out. Try...
It sounds like you are seriously considering moving your children to a questionable coaching environment just so they can level up, that sounds like a really bad idea.
Ashton is one of the elite gymnasts I was referring to, so glad she is out of there. There are a lot of gyms in the area, but not at that same level. I do feel so bad for all those gymnasts.
I was referring to parents of gymnasts at Everest. We've had families from that gym end up at our gym (mostly through relocation) as well as some interactions with elite athletes from that gym. They have a very harsh reputation at least in our neck of the woods.
