    Coaches Girls Cannot Leap

It's important to know what part of the leap. If they don't have the flexibility, stretch. If they have or are close to the splits, but aren't able to get the flexibility in the air, work on their dynamic flexibility. Front kicks, side kicks, and back kicks will help their muscles get used to...

    WAG Starting to do Choreography

Thank you! I figured it would be pretty difficult without being active in a gym. Unfortunately, that's not an option for me right now. If anybody else has any advise on how to do this independently, I would love to hear it. If not, it looks like I will need to wait for a couple years until I can...

    WAG Starting to do Choreography

Hey everybody! I was just wanting to know if anybody had any advice on starting to do choreography for gymnasts. I am toying with the idea to be an independent choreographer. I am not currently coaching at a gym, nor do I have any real affiliation with a gym. How would I go about finding...

WAG Hip Flexors - how are they used?

Definitely impact front handsprings and front aerials much more than I thought they would. I learned the hard way whenever I pulled my hip flexor and thought I could do a front handsprings no problem, ouch.

Coaches Beam basics (leaps & jumps)

Oh,I get that boys don't do jumps on floor, but all jumps on beam should be started on the floor. If they have already learned the jumps on the floor, they should just move them to the beam. If no, your real place to start is learning all said jumps on the floor first. I don't know how to embed...

Coaches Beam basics (leaps & jumps)

Jumps should be similar to how they are on the floor. If they are compulsory routines, the arms will be specified. In general, I have my girls jump with their arms above their head, straight up. Dominant foot is usually in front. Beam jumps/leaps has a lot to do.with fear, but they should have...

WAG help with back layout half twist please?

How are you trying to twist? (arms by your side, arms crossing your chest and pulling to the side) Are you looking at your shoulder? After you set turn your head to look at your shoulder, whichever way you want to turn. Make sure you have plenty of height. This should help to initiate the twist.

    WAG Floor music question...

I would look at both music on YouTube and also floor music websites and see where you find music you really like. If you do choose music from YouTube and perhaps purchase on iTunes, you may have to cut it down to proper length, which can be harder that ot sounds. Itunes would be cheaper.

Coaches Ideas to Make Conditioning Fun

One way that my team had fun was we had one of those large foam dice, and then we would go around the circle of girls are choose a type of conditioning (sometimes the coach would specify arms, legs, core, etc) and then we would roll the dice and whatever number it landed on, we would multiply it...

WAG Gabby Douglas leaves Chow's Gym, moves to L.A.

Considering how much money she is is earning through opportunities, I think it's ridiculous that she can't repay Chow. Without him, she wouldn't have any of this.

    Off Topic Healthy Eating

If your looking for a few things beyond the obvious (fruits, veggies), I highly recommend going to the market and checking out some things like dried apricons, lightly salted plantain chips, and dehydrated bananas. I love the bananas with a bit of peanut butter, kind of like the peanut butter...

Off Topic Highschool Homecoming (Freshman Year)

Every school's dance is extremely different. It depends on how it is organized, what the school dress code is, and traditions that the school may have. Sent from my SGH-T679 using ChalkBucket mobile app

WAG Kids that hate to condition

I would just make sure she knows that conditioning has direct correlation to the schools she would like to get. If anything, you may just have to let her be. At her age, she might see other girls start moving up and she stays back so maybe she would get motivated. Sent from my SGH-T679 using...
