WAG Seeking a Good Gym in Wesley Chapel, FL Area

Out of the gyms you listed, LaFleur's Tampa would be the best known, I would believe.I know they have a full optional program with multiple Level 1o's (at least they did), one, a friend of my daughter's, went on to get a full college scholarship at a top SEC school. I believe there were others...

WAG Seeking a Good Gym in Wesley Chapel, FL Area

La Fleur's Tampa would be closer to them than Golden City, I think. It is a good gym with Level 10s. There is also La Fleur's Largo, which is much further away. Dont know anything about the others

    Women's Team Finals

Honestly growing up in the 1960's, we always put her hand over our heart for the pledge, and stood with our hands by our sides for the National Anthem. I think in more recent years it has become expected to put your hand over your heart for the Anthem, but I think it is something that has come...

WAG Anyone involved in figure skating?

Gymnasts can transition nicely to synchronized swimming if they are comfortable in the water. I have had two girls heavily involved for years, as well as my gymnast son. Let me know if I can give you more info.

WAG Help with a sad but motivated gymnast

My younger daughter (different sport), was a great athlete, however never quite got the scores of some others and rarely got gold. We supported her, helped her get through it, let her know how proud we were of her trying her best, etc. Fast forward a number of years....she is on a full...

    For all you cheer haters..

I do agree that all star cheerleading is starting to evolve and become more gymnastic like. I do also know with cheerleading it is hard to know and compare as there are so many "national" competitions. My daughter, 14 is training in synchronized swimming for the only Age Group Nationals in...

confusion over gymnast's progression to level 4

You'll get no argument from me that it was interscholastic. All I know is there were quite a number of schools that had programs, we had dual and tri school meets, we had championships from across NYC, and we had varsity and JV. We had a dedicated gymnastics room in the basement with...

    For all you cheer haters..

Actually, I would have no problem if they competed all in black suits and white caps and no make up. I agree that it can detract from the athleticism, not to mention a whole lot less work and money for me! :) Their routines are 4 minutes long and they stay under for probably half of it(not all...

    For all you cheer haters..

As a parent of an ex gymnast (boy) and two synchronized swimmers, I need to weigh in on this sport or not sport discussion. I will not criticize cheerleading, because I am sure it takes a lot of training, athleticism and dedication, and I know nothing about it, so it is difficult to have an...

confusion over gymnast's progression to level 4

Out of lurkdom... I was on a high school team in NYC in the very early 1970's, and I am sure this program had been around for a number of years before that. We competed with other high schools nearby and then had a championship. If club gymnastics was around, I was not aware of it.

Form -competitive gymnasts vs. for fun [funny picture]

HI, I'm new here. My son was the competitive gymnast, but this photo made me smile! If you take the girls with the good form but put them in 17 feet of water, having them do those straight handstands with good form and that much leg height out of the water without touching the bottom of the...
