    Parents Sad for gymnast

Eventually your gymmie will probably start to notice her scores and placements. When that happens I would just focus on her improvements in scores and skills, vs focusing on her how low her scores are and how she scores compared to her teammates. My DDs have learned that coming in last sucks...

    WAG State meet question

It depends on the competitiveness of your gym and the level of your DD. Placing is harder, because it is a wider pool of gymnasts and it automatically takes out the few kids at every meet that don’t score well enough to qualify, have injury’s, etc so it only generally has kids with 32+ scores...

    Woodward

Does anyone have any ideas as to how Woodward (in PA) is handling COVID? We tried looking on the website, but all we saw was some information on COVID in summer of 2020. DD also tried looking on tik tok (not the best source of information, I know!) and we saw a lot of videos of girls and even...

    Parents Questions about gymnast's path

I would also like to point out that a lot of amazing elites such as Kayla DiCello, Jade Carey, Sydney Morris, and Morgan Hurd all did a full year of level 4. Heck, Jade even repeated level 4! Skipping is not at all a measure of how sucessful you will be.

Parents Growth spurt strikes..at the worst possible time

Wow! 5 inches is a lot of growing in a year! I can imagine how it would affect her. My oldest DD has had similar issues with growing over quarantine, except her blood pressure didn't catch up to her height. Has she gotten her yearly physical yet? If not, I would take her in for it and also bring...

Parents Not cut out to be a gymnast

Just wondering, do you guys truly feel that not everyone is cut out to be a gymnast? I feel like as my DDs are progression, less and less girls stick with it. DO you think that some kids are just not mentally strong enough, physically strong enough, etc to be a gymnast? I just wonder it because...

    WAG Back Tuck help

Is there a video of you doing it or another video you can find of someone else doing it with the same problem? I don't fully understand what is going wrong with your backtucks.

    Parents Questions about gymnast's path

I completely agree. Level 4 has so many foundation skills like back handsprings, front handsprings, cartwheels on the beam, kips on bars, etc. and it is important to master those before moving onto the next level. Your daughter is still so young, so rushing the process will only lead to burnout...

    Coaches and masks

Anyone in the gym including the gymnasts must wear masks at all times at our gym. Technically speaking, if there is no mask mandate, it is legal but dangerous. I would surely not be sending my DDs to a gym without masks.

    Parents Cast handstand help

Hi! My daughter is a 14yo level 8 gymnast. She is pretty tall and not particularly strong or flexible so naturally cast to handstands don’t come easy. She was able to get by last year without one, however she got major deductions on it. What are some drills/ conditioning that she can safely do...
