For your kip, focus on making your glide long and powerful. Try sets of just glides to strengthen it. For your BWO try stretching up really tall before you go back. Through your head and arms. it should help prevent your hip dipping.
Hey, I am not sure if you are on facebook, but we have nearly 2000 members now on there! https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=just%20like%20fine%20wine...adult%20gymnastics%20group
I know tons of kids who hit 180 in the air but don't have flat splits. In fact, for upper level leaps (switch fulls, tour jetes ect) it almost seems to me like the 'don't have their splits' group are even better at these leaps. Alicia Sacramone for instance didn't have her split (according to...
I also rip easily and I use a product called 'udder creme' each night before bed. It helped so much. I buy it at cvs or on amazon. This is more to prevent future rips, than for healing current ones.
I am a little late to this thread, but want to confirm that these intial comments are concerning from this coach. From my experience these comments only intensify as the child ages, and end up being said in front of the kids at some point. I developed an ED during high school largely due to...
I know this isn't your point...but Simone wears an AXS or AS as of last year according to her ask.fm. It's amazing how you can be muscular and still fit into these sizes. However, to support what you are saying, I have heard of other universities limiting what size leo they would buy for the...
I am willing to bet your dad is proud of you.
I understand the feeling, though. As a kid I was in the exact same situation as you. I wanted nothing more than to win so my parents could see how hard I worked.
As an adult (still gymnast), I realize that all that really mattered was that *I*...
Not too sure on timing, other than it's not a good idea to try something new right before a meet (like, 1-2 days before). However if it's a 'light' massage it should be fine.
I caution her to scrub up extra after the massage though, because the oil can be really slippery and a few times my foot...
To answer Seeker's question, my planned passes are:
front pike front tuck
front handspring front layout
roundoff layout 1/2
Thank you everyone for your responses.
One adult really isn't safe...at our gym, if a child gets hurt and needs immediate medical care, a coach rides with that child in the ambulance. It's super rare, but it happens. What then?
It's totally understandable that you assumed they could make special arrangements, but it looks like it's just not something they want to do for whatever reason at the present time.
I think sometimes businesses are more willing to 'bend the rules' if someone has been a loyal, rule abiding...
I would start with doing light jumping and core strengthening at home, and maybe even handstands. Once in class just go slower than you think you need to and build up. Ask the instructor for his/her opinion. If you are on facebook, check out our adult gym group 'just like fine wine...adult...
