Do you use our mobile app?

I would use the app much more often if I could get on my social groups. That's mainly what I access. IOS here :)

WAG Compulsory made for specific body type?

My dd has the build of short and muscular (similar to a Shawn Johnson type). Her strongest events have always been beam and floor. There goes your coach's theory about the longer and leaner being geared towards those events in compulsory. ;)

    Parents Scratchy leos

I bet going to that meet was great!!! Our college team competed at that Invitational. My dd would have loved to be there (and me, too). I wish our gym sold Ozone leos. Sigh.

    Parents Scratchy leos

My dd has tried many different kinds of leos and she, by far, prefers her Ozone leos because of the comfort. They can be pricey but if you sign up on their website they do offer monthly specials and once in awhile additional sales.

    WAG Can she be serious?

Your dd is built a lot like my dd as well. Her coaches tell her to hold her core in a lot as well. It's hopeless but I think it's getting better as they're doing different conditioning now. But she still remembers when a boy on the boy's team told her that her legs were fat and not muscular and...

WAG DD's coach mentioned "flat feet"..... not sure where to start

My dd, who has flat feet, deals with Severs and Achilles tendinitis. If that is what your dd ends up having, I would suggest the following (as we have been dealing with it off and on for over 2 years): The X Brace (google it and you can find them). They are flesh colored braces she can wear to...

    WAG Can she be serious?

I would be livid...they are self-conscious enough. Certainly don't need a coach to tell them these kinds of things. Those are kinds of words that can stick with them forever, especially from a figure like a coach. Like other posters have said, I would either schedule a meeting with the head...

Parents 5 stages of a gym parent - interesting read

I stumbled across this and thought it was pretty accurate...even made me take a step back and evaluate what I'm doing. I would say that I'm in stage 5 but still have a little of stage 4 in me. ----- Want to know '5 Stages of a Gym Parent'? Where are you on the progression? ; ) (Come on...

WAG Questions about your gym and team program?

    1. How many girls team coaches do you have? I think there are probably 6-8 team coaches and 4-5 Xcel coaches 2. How many girls on team? Roughly 50 Xcel? 50 JO? 1 level 9 girl 3. How many rec./preschool gymnasts are at your club per week? Last I heard we had close to 450. We are a huge rec gym 4...

WAG Gymnast build question - just curious

Thank you everyone for your comments! It's so interesting to read the differences between body types. I've been so used to seeing my dd as pretty much the only girl on her team built like a "Shawn" and it's nice to know there are others out there built like her as well. :)

WAG Gymnast build question - just curious

Aren't skinny jeans a blessing?! My dd wears skinny jeans and jeggings from Justice and they seem to be the only thing that fit her. I have no idea where to go after she doesn't want to wear her Justice jeans anymore. Although she also likes to wear yoga capri pants as well. Boot cuts...what are...

WAG Gymnast build question - just curious

Just curious...does their body shape tend to change some by the time they get to optionals? Or do you find once they have a certain body type they stay that way? Thanks for your input!

WAG Gymnast build question - just curious

My soon to be 11 yo dd has always been more of a shorter, powerful type gymnast where pretty much all of her teammates are the longer leaner type. She's often referred to herself as a "Shawn Johnson" type as opposed to a "Nastia" type. Her shirts and pants are increasingly difficult to fit as...

    Parents To discuss meet performance?

From what I recall, wasn't she recovering from some injuries a while ago? Perhaps those might have crept into her mind or shaken her confidence a little? For what it's worth, I think a level 8 at 13 is AWESOME and you've been a huge supporter of hers. It's okay once in awhile to not be the...

    Parents Separate Preschool Gym

Our gym has a separate room for the preschoolers and it does really well. They set it up like a mini gym with a beam, mini trampolines, kip bar, ball pit, hoops, and then bring in a lot of props as weekly themes. And they also come into the big gym for a turn at jumping into the foam pit and...
