My gymnastics has never gotten in the way of school (university in my case). However, I have a funny memory where my coach said "well school comes first" and I said "actually for me it doesn't". I'd put school first for most of my life, and I've been through some bad depressions. Now for me it's...
Maybe somebody else can chime in here if I'm right but..
For future reference, if a kid hits her head and has blacked out, you may want to see or at least call a doctor. Especially if symptoms carry on even hours later. She may well have had a mild concussion, from what you're describing, and a...
I see a lot of people giving tips for the BHS, but not much about this. so a few things.
1. I don't know how old you are, but it sounds like you and especially your teammates are pretty young. Some kids that age don't realise what they're saying is hurtful. If they're nice friends but this keeps...
This is just a guess, but do you maybe try to tap too early and too hollow?
To fix it I can think of two things, but I'm not a coach so they will know better.
1. Try focussing first on just jumping and swinging, without kipping. This gives you some time to really focus on the jump.
2. Perhaps...
Sounds like she has a good one :). Good luck to both of you too.
It can be kind of frustrating in a world where everyone is focussed on weight loss to focus on eating more and gaining weight, but it's super important especially if you want to get skills that take strength, and to feel healthy.
I am looking up "HIIT workout", I thought tabata was the name of the person but I now realise I can look that up too. Also, I hadn't looked them up yet because I thought it was polite to reply first.
Definitely can't buy a spin bike but thanks for the idea :).
I don't expect you to, of course...
I can see this, but I think her gymnastics should be for her, not for the extended family. Doing things for other people shouldn't be "allowing them to do me this favour that I don't even want from them" in my opinion. I would say it's her gym meet, and extended family shouldn't impose on that...
Just a thought, but maybe you're arching more because you've grown? Do you still fit beteen the bars with a straight body, or do you need more of a strong hollow body to fit?
I want to improve my endurance, mainly for my floor routine. However, running and biking outside are not great options because my shins need rest and because of the weather most of the time.
Does anybody have ideas for things I can do both at the gym and at home (mainly at home) to improve...
Personally I'd make a cool certificate (word has tons of templates so its easy to make something that looks great) or something, or flowers, it depends on what your daugher likes.
From what you've said it sounds like whatever you do should be revealed after the competition, so you don't make her...
Just wondering, if there's plenty of rec options around, wouldn't it be possible just to put her in multiple rec classes? It may not get her in the comp groups, but at least she'll have more than 45 min a week.
If you're concerned about anything going on, I would personally advise you to talk to your daughter
I'm not saying that's how you'll get to the bottom of things or that she has to tell you anything, but rather if there could be something wrong it's important to let her know you're on her side...
If you ever feel like trying it for fun: think for the strength you should be able to do a pull up to where the bar is below your collarbone, if you can do that then I think a muscle up is feasable. The trick is from that point to go in a very fast tiny circular motion: away from bar, upwards...
