Thank you for posting. My DD made the decision tonight to quit. She has been injured for 6-7 months and she would like to try other things. But it’s been such a part of our life for 5 years it’s nice to hear about others post-gym life! She says she wants to try track and volleyball.

Totally normal. After 4 years competing I can recall coaches around during awards a handful of times. As prior posters said - they often have other sessions or it is their only time to eat. And the coaches know the placements, they get a score sheet before awards and so they know who placed...

I listened. It was a very honest interview...her treatment by coaches and other adults was appalling. I also found her insights as a coach interesting.

Typical I think. We just switched gyms and my DD was unable to attend the banquet or celebrate the season with her teammates. It was sad for her but I understood. One of the coaches was the primary reason we left, which was known so that would have just been awkward.

That broke my heart a little.

You are not alone. I have just stopped coming to the gym except for the last few minutes to pick up. Meet season wasn't always the best, but actually made a few friends that felt just like me. [emoji846]
