Has anyone who has been in the community for a while seen an average gymnast (34-35 scores) at the compulsory level go on to actually be competitive as an optional (36-38s)? Just looking for some feedback/curious. For the record, the child in question has repeated two levels as a compulsory.
Just trying to understand TOPs. A few of our girls tested TOPs and qualified to do those level 4 TOPs routines in competition. Great news! I'm curious if those routines have a different starting value than those of standard JO. I know TOPs girls...
The girls who tested and qualified TOPS are working on routines with much harder skills (i.e. front tuck on floor, cast to handstand on bars, etc). That's why I'm unsure how a judge could compare standard compulsory with TOPs upgrades.
Just trying to understand TOPs. A few of our girls tested TOPs and qualified to do those level 4 TOPs routines in competition. Great news! I'm curious if those routines have a different starting value than those of standard JO. I know TOPs girls aren't separated for competition so I'm trying...
The girls I'm talking about are only compulsory level 4. Wouldn't everyone get the same starting difficulty? Only a few girls from the session received E and ND scores while the rest did not. That's why I'm confused.
So I don't understand the E and ND scores. My kiddo just went to a meet where a handful of the girls on her team received them (same level but they're TOPs and my kiddo is not). Can someone enlighten me? I'm just curious and trying to learn about the world of gymnastics! Thanks
Hi gymnastics moms & dads! I realize, as parents, a lot of us are on this site hoping to gain insight, knowledge, and support as we navigate this crazy sport with our kiddo(s). In the past, I've posted questions about my child's possible success, concerns that she's "average" at competitions...
My kiddo competed level 4 last year at a gym that sounds similar…15-20 hours a week. This year we switched gyms (for an array of reasons) and she’s repeating the level…only 9 hours a week. The funny thing is that the quality of her training is far superior. Many of the older girls experienced...
Age 2-4 preschool classes
Age 5 preteam
Age 6 level 2
Age 7 XS
Age 8 level 4
Age 9 level 4 repeat (new gym with high standards for USAG scoring…two 37s in the regular season )
My child loves gymnastics but she’s not a standout athlete. She tries hard and keeps a positive outlook on her future...
So we are considering a gym move. A mom from our current team mentioned the possibility of another gym moving my DD down a level since their standards are higher than USAG. They require fairly high scores during season in order to move up. If my child competed level 4 this year, is it even...
