    Coaches Kip Tutorial

Thanks! I am coaching Level 3 bars and I have a bunch of girls who want to rush their kip. They are trying to sit up too quickly for the most part. I do all kinds of strength, drills and spotting.

I tell them 1.5 BHC also. We do these in their warm up.

    Coaches Back hip circle undershoots

Mine were doing really well with these when I was doing 2 BHC in a row and a couple of other things for them. Now that I moved them on, they are getting bad habits again. Such as throwing the head back, dropping the bar to their knees/shins or just dumping off. I'm a little frustrated.

    WAG Another USAG screw up

Does anyone know what it takes to get put on the banned list? I think if you are a registered sex offender and you EVER were a pro member, you should be banned. Not that that covers anything but our competitions, but seeing the name on there does help.

    WAG Some Thoughts on Xcel

Some of the confusion lies in semantics. Xcel has DIVISIONS, not levels. Heck, some people still say Excel. lol

WAG Another inspiring athlete... Had to share!

It was on mine too! Love the determination of this girl and all of the others like her who do not let life get them down. Just wish the coach would have taught the routine correctly.

    WAG Level 6

We want good, solid optionals, so we do Level 5. This year half of last year's 5s went to 6 and half to 7 depending on where their skills were. 6s get their own floor routines just like all of our optionals.

    WAG Some Thoughts on Xcel

YOU are the reason that the Xcel program exists. It wasn't created to skirt compulsories, but to give gymnasts like you an opportunity to compete in a sport that you love.

WAG Level 4 vs Level 5 vs Level 7 vault FHS

Old Level 3, where the vault was a dive roll, they used to be allowed to use a tramp board. Now it is only in Xcel And level 1. My latest meet there was a team that used it at Level 2. I could see the judges over there talking to the coaches but we were competing beam so I didn't see what...

    WAG Nutrition component of coaching

My 13-year-old daughter practices 3 days a week for 4 hours each day. She typically has a GoGo Squeeze and another similar product that has some veggies in there. She's not dieting or trying to lose weight by any means, there are a lot of carbs that are easily digestible in there. She eats...

Preferred snacks are fruit-based snacks. So any type of fruit pretty much.

The building doesn't belong to the gym. The Owner of the building leases the space in the common areas to a vending company that sells this stuff.

For one thing, we do not practice over 4 hours and my kids have ample access to a snack. If it has to be Oreos because someone forgot, then so be it. It is just not a preferred snack. Not sure why that opinion is SO wrong.

Not disrespectful. We are all entitled to our opinion. I hardly ever see what the kids bring and have as a snack to be honest. Unless it's crumbs from the aforementioned cookie around their mouth. Or it is all over the floor after practice.
