Parents 8 months to get kip?

I had never seen that video before but I am laughing so hard. As a parent of a level 3 and level 4, gym life revolves around kips. Pretty sure our coaches have had the exact same conversation multiple times! “Susie believes if you let her she will be able to start kipping.” “Susie also...

    Parents Meets

Oh my, no no, we don’t even get new uniforms every year, they are too expensive.

    Parents Meets

Agree with everything WV Gym Mom posted above. This was our first season with lots of meets and a few travel ones. Meets are expensive. The meet fee for our meets were usually between $60-115 per meet. We did 8 meets, plus states. Plus the coaches fee. I had a bit of sticker shock when I got...

Parents Can you help me explain scoring on this XG UB routine?

I really appreciate your help! You are not picking her apart at all, these are all things I had no idea about. The bad part is, I don't know if DD really knows this either!

Parents Can you help me explain scoring on this XG UB routine?

Thank you! It was a pretty rough season. They only had one competition in 2020 before everything shut down, and when they started up four months later, it just seemed like the girls were always trying to play catchup, never quite ready for their competitions. I am so thankful for you...

Parents Can you help me explain scoring on this XG UB routine?

Thank you SOOOO much!! This was extremely helpful. I realized she had a lot of form breaks but I had no idea about the value of the deductions. I really appreciate you taking the time to go through her routine for me. And I have a feeling that DD has no idea either. I'm not positive that...

    Parents Communication expectations

We get basically zero communication. Once I did email though, because we were concerned, and I got a very prompt reassuring email in response, which was good. I always tell my husband that the coaches at the gym are there because they love gymnastics, not because they are great at...

Thank you, this helps a lot! I really appreciate it!

WAG Can you help me explain scoring on this XG UB routine?

I posted this in the Parents forum but I thought it might be better suited here and get more replies. I would appreciate an explanation of how this bars routine was scored, from anyone who knows. This is an Xcel Gold routine, and I definitely see a lot of little deductions -- bent hips, feet...

Parents Can you help me explain scoring on this XG UB routine?

Hi, I would appreciate an explanation of how this bars routine was scored, from anyone who knows. This is an Xcel Gold routine, and I definitely see a lot of little deductions -- bent hips, feet not together. But is there a big deduction somewhere? She scored a 8.2 on this routine, and...

    Virtual Meets?

Yay! That’s great to hear. Can’t we volunteer to lend them our devices for the afternoon for the home meets then??

    Virtual Meets?

Hey there! Yes, the Spot TV viewing was so terrible. We were basically watching a tiny little pixel the whole time. But one thing I learned was that the app is much better than the website, so next time, try using the app. The picture wasn't any better, but it wouldn't freeze, so instead of...

    Question Concerning Virtual Meets

Hello fellow gym mom! I am so excited for this weekend’s meet! My dd only had one meet last season so she is excited to do another one. I hope I can watch the older girls too. Good luck to your dd!

    Parents 2021 season

R7 here, virtual meets are planned and they were originally thinking of going hybrid before the numbers spiked. Are no other areas doing virtual meets? I’m hoping as long as the meets are virtual, they won’t get canceled even with these higher numbers.

    Parents Fall on bars....rough practice

Awww. Look at it this way, you saw how she was struggling today and you were able to give her a big pep talk that she needed because you were saw it. It’s good that you saw it, despite how hard it is to see our kids struggle. Hugs to you and your daughter.
