Any other gymnasts having a really tough time getting back to where they were?

My daughter (12) has always been pretty easy going about gymnastics and has never seemed to mind too much if she gets a bad placement at a meet or being the last to get a skill. She's never been the best on her team and repeated a couple of levels along the way, but she's come a long way and...

COVID-19 / Coronavirus Gymnastics Club Reopening Steps / Process

Good point and something for all of us parents to keep in mind.

COVID-19 / Coronavirus Gymnastics Club Reopening Steps / Process

I disagree. For one thing there is very strong evidence that the virus is much less likely to be transmitted from kid to kid than from adult to kid or kid to adult and especially adult to adult -so while the adult and the kid live together the possibility of transmission is stronger if the...

    Olympic hopeful training?

Interesting about the privacy issue -I haven't heard of this being a consideration in the US.

COVID-19 / Coronavirus Gymnastics Club Reopening Steps / Process

I really don't think parents should be allowed to enter the gyms at all during this coronavirus time. I realize that the safe sport rules dictate that parents must be allowed to watch practice to protect the gymnasts -but I think that at this time having extra people in the gym is more of a...

    Olympic hopeful training?

Wow, that's so interesting that they might be able to run the college by limiting ability to leave during the semester. I really feel sorry for the college kids right now -having to leave their entire lives at school and do classwork from home.

    Olympic hopeful training?

I see, that makes sense. My kids go to a private school, so the assumption is that everyone has internet access. Any kid who does not own their own device borrowed one from the school on the day before the closure. Thankfully our signal seems to be strong enough for all 5 of us to be on...

    Olympic hopeful training?

I am also a teacher (college) and agree that online teaching is exhausting and happy that my classes don't run all day long. I don't think most of my daughter's teachers are teaching ALL day either and if they are it's a different class (different group of kids) each hour. My DD is in 7th (so...

    Olympic hopeful training?

My gymnast has to be online for school the same hours as she was physically in school before the shut down. I'm not sure if all schools in my area are working this way, and I'm worried that her gym might schedule her practices during times she's in school, which would be very disappointing for...

    Olympic hopeful training?

Don't most of the kids have to be online for school for the school day? -at least those in middle school or older?

Parents Slightly Off Topic- more than one way to do gymnastics in college.

Congrats! That's amazing! I didn't know that club gymnastics exists in college. Does anyone have a list of schools that have this program?

    Parents Shoot through help

Notoriously a PITA of a skill! Sorry your daughter is struggling. I was so happy to never have to watch my daughter compete that skill again after 2 years of level 3 :). My daughter missed it at several meets. My advice is to leave it to the coaches and try to take a deep breath and relax.

Parents transitioning to dance from gymnastics?

DD (11) has been doing gymnastics most of her life and gave up dance at age 7 or so. Of course there is some dance in floor and beam, but it's not the same as a regular dance class. She just announced that she thinks this might be her last season of gym and that she is interested in...

WAG getting the kip while already using grips?

I'm glad to hear that it is possible to get the kip while using grips. Yep, she's been consistently practicing it for 4 years and still doesn't have it -repeated level 3 (so started training kip after her 1st level 3 season) and now in her 2nd season of xcel. She does well on floor and beam...

WAG getting the kip while already using grips?

DD has had grips for many years -but still doesn't have her kip despite working on this skill for 4 years. I know it's uncommon to get grips before having the skill but unfortunately one of DD's previous coaches did not agree with this. DD has not given up the grips because she says her hands...
