    Parents Kinda roll call

Daughter is level 7. She was USAG at her old gym. This is her first year AAU. But will be USAG again next year. (The compulsories are AAU at this gym, and there were not enough optional girls to spread the cost of coaching fees to go off on their own. So this year they are AAU.) (She just...

    Parents Gymnast gifts

My daughter's favorite gifts from the hosting gym have been grip bags, shorts (that go with meet shirt that I had to buy), and a blanket. We have way too many drawstring bags and water bottles. The gift she has never used was a gymnastics beanie hat in Florida, the beach towel would have been...

Parents Should non competing injured teammate be excluded/included from victory celebration?

I think they would have still earned the party, but the vote and decision were made before they competed.

Parents Should non competing injured teammate be excluded/included from victory celebration?

When I was first told about this and really angry I suggested that we have ice cream and toppings at the gym for the injured girls at the same time as they other girls were having their pizza party. My DD said no, because that would hurt her teammate's feelings. So then I suggested we...

Parents Should non competing injured teammate be excluded/included from victory celebration?

I did not talk to many people about this. I only told my good friend, who's daughter is compulsory and not involved and one father. The father's daughter is one of the optional girls who competed. He was very upset. He wanted to know why it was even up to the girls. My friend talked to...

Parents Should non competing injured teammate be excluded/included from victory celebration?

Thank you. Thank you for your support and understanding. I did not understand the reasoning and my DD did not. She cried her heart out last night. I made things worse for her by talking to her head coach, because she was so much happier thinking he was not involved. To help her process we...

Parents Should non competing injured teammate be excluded/included from victory celebration?

The girls had to vote on whether they wanted to try to include their injured teammates by trying to make the percent improvement over the entire group’s scores, minus the help of their injured teammates or drop their scores and only try to beat the scores of the girls currently competing. Of...

Parents Should non competing injured teammate be excluded/included from victory celebration?

Second, after the first meet they were all promised a party if their scores improved by a certain percent over the first set of scores. The other injured teammate scored fairly high on beam and floor at the first meet.

Parents Should non competing injured teammate be excluded/included from victory celebration?

I talked to the head coach/ owner. He knew about the private party and he explained why it was okay. First of all the girls voted for this, it was up to them.

Parents Should non competing injured teammate be excluded/included from victory celebration?

This was not a team award. These are only the optional girls and 3 girls are on one level and 1 girl is on another. The agreement was that they could have an ice cream party if two girls stuck their beam routine (these girls are all weak on beam) and two girls had to score at least a nine. Well...

Parents Should non competing injured teammate be excluded/included from victory celebration?

Unfortunately, it does seems like she is too chicken and wanted the girls deliver the message. On Monday, DD asked coach how the girls did at the meet. Coach told DD that it was not her place to tell her, that she would have to wait and hear it from the girls. DD says coach stood by, in...

Parents Should non competing injured teammate be excluded/included from victory celebration?

Thank you for your replies. Of course, I felt that was correct, but wanted to make sure I was not just being an overprotective parent. I am not sure what is going on. My daughter and her teammate were injured and unable to attend this meet. The girls were told if they did well they would...

Parents Should non competing injured teammate be excluded/included from victory celebration?

I was just looking for other people's opinions. Do you think an injured teammated should be invited to a celebration for a victory that she did not contribute to because she was injured at the time? Should it be up to the girls who did compete?

    What is level PN?

She is from south Florida. The Prep Novice makes sense. She really has no other skills to speak of. I would have guessed that she was working on level 4 or 5, except for her beam skills and her dance skills (turns and leaps) are more advanced. Thank you.

    What is level PN?

Hi. We have a visiting gymnast for the summer. She claims to be a level 8, but other than a back handspring on the beam, she has no optional skills. So I got curious and looked her up online. At her most recent meets she competed as level PN. What does that mean?
