    WAG Difference between 5/6/7

She didn't compete 5 long enough to qualify for state (she scored out of it at a USAG meet very early--no qualifier, no state meet...she has qualified for state every other season). Her score at the L5 meet was a 38.10 AA, 9.5 vault, 9.4 bars, 9.75 beam, and 9.45 floor (with a dislocated finger...

    WAG Difference between 5/6/7

I'm not sure, which is probably the root of what's bothering me. DD and her teammates were told they would be competing 7 next season and then, out of the blue, with no particular event or trigger, HC decided she was going to compete them 6. Naturally, the girls (not just DD) are quite confused...

    WAG Difference between 5/6/7

Yes, she has a beautiful kip cast handstand and she can do it on HB but only 2-3 giants before losing it (what, I don't know). Her giants are not consistent enough for me to say she 'has' them, though.

    WAG Difference between 5/6/7

She doesn't have to make a team...in the past HC would compete girls at their ability level, though with compulsories she would not move in the middle of the season (instead they would be allowed to uptrain and, if ready, could score out of the next level, effectively 'skipping' that level and...

    WAG Difference between 5/6/7

Her giants aren't clean yet...only a week in to really working them....BUT, season doesn't start until January so I have no doubt her giants will be more than clean by that time...I'm concerned that DD is old enough to realize what's going on and she's not going to like it. Especially when her...

    WAG Difference between 5/6/7

I'm sure this is posted somewhere already, but I can't seem to find it... DD just scored out of 5 and has been training 7. Today, HC told her she will likely compete her 6 because she will do very well there and because she's only 10, there's no need to rush. To me, this is sandbagging as DD...

    WAG Level 5 ending poses

The gymnast can do anything they want so long as they are not on their feet. DD just completed a L5 meet this past weekend, and there were some very interesting ending poses. Her HC was specific about the girls not changing the ending pose, but not all gyms have this rule. The only thing I would...

    WAG Help! Dislocated Middle Finger...

Well, DD's meet was this past weekend and she did AMAZING!!!! Vault: 9.50 (3rd) Bars: 9.40 (1st) Beam: 9.75 (1st) Floor: 9.45 (1st) AA: 38.10 (1st) She needed a 36 to score out of 5 and move to 7 and was beyond anxious that her hand wouldn't have healed enough for bars and that event would...

    WAG geddert's conditioning?

DD works out 20 hours per week and will easily do an hour straight of conditioning, with more conditioning built into each rotation, and then 15 minutes of 'cool down' conditioning at the end of practice. It all depends on the coach's comfort level, how hard they want to push the kids, and how...

WAG how long did it take you/your child get to Level7?

4 months. DD competed at State in December and just moved to 7 this week. Having said that, she has been training 7 since October. As such, she's got almost all her 7 skills, with the exception of giants on bars. She trains 20 hours/week.

WAG Gyms That Think They Are Better Than They Are?

Yes and no. She is competing this weekend to score out of 5. The reason she can do so is because she picked up level 7 skills very quickly. My post above was referencing the levels of the girls currently training in DDs gym--DD is still 'officially' a L5 (until she scores out this weekend) but...

WAG Gyms That Think They Are Better Than They Are?

I agree. The highest level in DDs gym right now is an 8-training-9 (whether she'll compete 9 next season is questionable). We have only one of them. We have 2 level 8s, 5 7s, no 6s, 2 5s, 5 4s, 9 3s, 6 2s, and 6 1s. A decent size for a gym, but not a 'factory.' HC never scratches a girl on an...

    WAG Level 7 Skills?

Thanks for all the input! This is my first foray into the optionals world and there's so much I don't know! Both DD and HC seem pleased with her progress--their first meet is usually mid-January, but there is an open invitational in late December that HC will sometimes take the girls to if she...

    WAG Level 7 Skills?

DD is training L7 and I'm a bit confused by what her coach is doing with her. She has not started choreographing her floor routine yet (DD knows the music she wants to use, but the coach hasn't given final approval), but she is working L7 skills. So far, DD has mastered the following skills...

    WAG S/O Mean coaches

As a parent, I would not put up with it at all. DD's HC has told her she's disappointed in her attitude, work ethic, behavior, etc, but never that DD herself is a disappointment. That is something that I would address with the HC and, barring any satisfaction from that conversation, would begin...
