WAG Level 9 Now Has Difficulty Bonus!

Level 9/10 scoring is tough to follow! I have always been the go to parent for why routines got the score they did but its going to be hard for me to know why now that the kiddos are level 9!

    For Parents BRAG ALERT

For Parents Score one for ChalkBucket

So DD has been getting rips on her wrist. It hasn't been going away and she was really annoyed. So like any good mom I started searching ChalkBucket for wrist rips suggestions. Lots of good advice the foremost of which was just buy some new dang on wrist bands. Even saw several recommendations...

    WAG Level 10 Beam series?

My kiddo is doing BHS BT for level 9 and actually did it for her last meet at level 8. It definately looks clean compared to some of the layout stepouts I see. Glad to hear that could be a series for Level 10 too!

    OT Level 3 tuition

It would depend totally on the area that you are in. Where we are at thats a little high for 9 hours but not too far off. Its really more about the hours practice than the level of team because so many gyms vary the hours practiced for each level.

For Parents What Is Your IDEAL Team Program?

--Commute is big I joke with my kid that if the gym was any further away she would be playing soccer. --Coaches willingness to communicate with Parents--will they schedule a meeting if there is an issue? Do they actually listen in said meeting? Are they willing to make changes because of said...

    WAG More injuries post-Covid shutdown?

I think that the injuries we had on our team are ones that would of happened eventually anyway so I would say no.

For Parents Stay Sane In A Sometimes Crazy Sport (Advice From Doc Ali)

I have made great parent friends as well! I am not a carpool person but I will always give a kid a ride home when they need it....and therefore when I need to call in a favor I know I can easily get a ride home for my kid. Plus riding together with other parents and gymnasts to away meets this...

    WAG Kip Tips

This helped me (many moons ago) and helped my kid as well. Its like putting on pants-- you bring your toes to the bar and pull all the way up to your hips. You can practice it at home with a broom you lie on your back with a stick (like a broom or something) above your head and bring your toes...

For Parents Level 8 vault starting values

And to add on to what I posted... there are some level 8s that flip some pretty scary vaults and dont score very well. It could be very benificial for your kid to have a clean vault with a lower start value than a scary flipping vault. There were not a ton of 9's at level 8 until regionals. My...

For Parents Level 8 vault starting values

We had a girl compete that exact vault all year because she wasnt ready to flip vaults due to an injury. She scored in the mid 8s and was able to qualify to States and Regionals. I believe by regionals she was flipping and got more competitive scores. I think we also had someone do the Timer...

For Parents Advice for Pre-Team and Compulsory Parents from Optional Parents

Don't get caught up in who gets what skill when and what scores everyone is getting and who moves to level 4 first etc. Comparison is the thief of joy. All the Parents that were super into it and frustrated with what kid got what skills...their kids arent in the sport anymore. Most of the kids...

    For Parents Upgrade Season

I thought that would be the worst but I lucked out and Vault just clicked for my kid at level 8 and once she started flipping she looked really good on vault so it was less scary for me to watch and ended up being her best event this year. This from a kid who never got a 9 on vault before level...

    For Parents Upgrade Season

So meet season is over for my kid and she did fantastic peaked at the right time and it was so cool to watch. Now its time to start training for level 9 . Honestly how the first half of the year went I thought for sure she would be repeating 8 and was fine with that so this is a cool surprise...

For Parents Questions about Training Schedule/Hours for Optionals

Yes my kid has zero bell... you have a bell before the day starts (usually PE) so that you can take an extra elective during the day. So school starts at like 9:20 I think but she has Zero bell at 8:45 where she does PE then goes to the rest of the school day.

    For Parents Strap Bar Gloves?

Our gym has them buy cheap cotton gloves...think the $2 stretchy gloves at target in the winter.... you can usually find them easily in winter time but probably on amazon year round. Thats if its a metal bar....

    WAG White Leo Opinions

Our gym has had white in our leos but never on the bottom half of the leo, and they have stated they like to keep the bottom half of the leo darker colors so that everyone can feel comfortable in them.

    WAG Middle School Gymnastics

To score well you need level 8ish skills but yes you can compete with less or compete with more and score better. But once again thats HS there is no Middle school gymnastics here.

    WAG Middle School Gymnastics

Where I am at there is no gymnastics in Middle School, just in HS. Its very similar to Level 8 in terms of requirements/scoring but I would say there are kids competing a range of skills from Xcel Gold(ish) to level 10 skills. The only thing that sucks around here is they don't have spring...

For Parents Success stories for later starting gymnasts

Our gym had a girl that started at 11 I think and ended up with a D1 scholarship.
