For Parents Seeking opinions on privates in this situation

Private’s never hurt, if you can afford them. Just like you said about your DD, mine also got lots of skills during private’s. And coaches enjoy working with a kid one on one. However, we cut back on private’s to only doing them every 2 weeks or less, since with a lot of practice hours and...

WAG Skipping levels 4 AND 5?

I have to agree, I am surprised to say the least. We do have a very strong gym in the area, and awesome coaches. Right now my DD is preparing for the state meet... I will talk to coaches after to see what their plans are exactly. I think that she should do at least a level 4, and then possibly...

WAG How to qualify for a state meet?

Yes, that’s all you need to qualify! To be honest, qualifying is not a big deal. Out of years as a gymnastics parent, I have only seen one girl who did not qualify at first... she ended up qualifying at the last weekend meet before the states. Your coaches have to register the gym, and you as...

For Parents No results/scores posted for a compulsory meet... very upset

Yep, I heard of a parent who submitted daily and the scores never showed up. Unfortunately, mms is flawed and is not considered an official score tracking system. I wish there was something better and centralized and official! :)

For Parents No results/scores posted for a compulsory meet... very upset

Yep! That’s what I did immediately after they posted scores. But should I attach the pdf file itself, or a link to all of the scores? They are divided into levels and groups, I mean should I attach each pdf separately, or just send a link to all? Oh well, I’m just doing both :)

For Parents No results/scores posted for a compulsory meet... very upset

Thank you so much for your replies! And yes, I believe that the coaches did have a printout is the scores, but I wouldn’t bother them. As an update, they did just post the scores on the meet’s website! Woohoo! Even if they don’t get upload to mymeetscores, I’m still happy. There were a lot of...

For Parents No results/scores posted for a compulsory meet... very upset

We recently had a USAG sanctioned, official meet with levels 3/4/5. Our girls did great, including my DD, who scored a 38.8 AA, unexpected and her highest AA ever... While we got the awards ceremony, and I know my DD’s scores, the hosting gym did not post results anywhere. Not on their website...

WAG Skipping levels 4 AND 5?

Thank you so much for your replies! I finally understand how it works. I really need to speak to the coach, but I hate bothering him, so many parents catch him after practice with many questions... Personally, I think it would be ideal for my DD to train/compete level 4 next year, and then skip...

WAG Skipping levels 4 AND 5?

I would expect a full year for sure. This competitive season competitions have been non stop, and while we live for competitions, and love them, I cannot imagine having a week off and jumping into the competitions-hotels-schedules bandwagon again lol :)

WAG Skipping levels 4 AND 5?

Mine is almost 10 :) and yes, I feel like she is mature enough. She is also eager and excited to learn new skills

WAG Skipping levels 4 AND 5?

I agree... I think that my daughter would train for a year before competing again. And she wouldn’t mind haha, she hates competitions lol!

WAG Skipping levels 4 AND 5?

    Additional info... daughter’s gym doesn’t do/compete level 5.

WAG Skipping levels 4 AND 5?

My daughter’s coach said that he wants let my daughter finish competing level 3, and move her to optionals at level 6 (insert horrified emoji here lol). Our state competes compulsory levels in the fall, and optionals in the spring. My question is... will she have to score out of level 4 AND...

WAG Daughter’ s friends not supportive of her gymnastics

Thank you so much for all of your replies! Now I know why forums exist... you really gave me a different outlook on the issue, and I feel a lot better. I started paying more attention, and I do see that my DD likes to keep Gymnastics and other aspects of her life separately. I also realized...

For Parents How to prepare 5 year old for first meet

Don’t say that she won’t win! You just never know, especially your DD being so young. They give out medals for all 4 events to the top 50% +1 (so if there are 15 in age category, 8 will get medals). Every girl gets a medal for All Around, and depending on the meet, the first 3 around places will...

    WAG Problems with teammates

First of all, totally not cool. And even though coaches are busy, they can always tell how every girl is being treated. In our gym, we have a zero bullying policy. We also have a parent liaison that acts as a messenger between the parents and the gym. Usually a problem like this should be...

WAG Daughter’ s friends not supportive of her gymnastics

Hello fellow Gymnastics parents! I’m posting this thread to get your thoughts on the topic. My daughter is 9, and and has been in JO gymnastics for the past 3 years. She has progressively gotten better, and has placed 1st-3rd AA for the last 2 competitive seasons. We live in a small community...

    OT Home equipment?

I would say that it really depends how old you are and what level you are. My daughter is 7, level 1, and we do have a bar, raised beam (18" off floor), and a 2"x4'x10' mat. Since my daughter joined team later in the season than other girls, she really needed to catch up. The equipment helped a...

    For Parents Banner ideas, quotes?

My daughter's team requires us to pay for and design a giant banner for our gymnast, that is displayed in the gym for a year. Most parents put a picture of their child and write a little quote, like "Reach for the stars! Love, your family", or "Good luck during competitive season!" Or "We love...

For Parents IKEA balance beam? Thinking of purchasing

I would recommend to either build a beam, or find one on Craigslist. I've looked and looked on Craigslist daily, and after about a month, I found a beam and adjustable bar from the same seller for $150. It was a dream come true. I literally called in sick to work, dropped off kids at grandma's...
