WAG Which vault is easier to flip?

Her shoulder is healed, thankfully. But with the repeated injuries to the same growth plate, the recommendation was to avoid yurchenkos until she is more skeletally mature to prevent further injury. I doubt her gym would allow her to skip vault for a season unless she was actively injured...

WAG Talk to me about Vault Table height

I'm just curious and trying to learn the mechanics of this. My YDD is a newly minted 9 year old who is definitely on the small side. Her gym tests out of level 4, competes Gold, tests out of 5, and competes 6. Her new vault coach just had her move her front handspring vault from a 105 setting...

    Advice please

I would go for it! Give her a chance to reach her potential. If she doesn't enjoy it with the greater intensity or skipping that many levels, it sounds like the coach you mention is understanding and will work with her at her comfort level.

For Parents Region 8 regionals - breakdown?

@L7mom Congrats to your DD!! And good luck to her at regionals! Unfortunately, the cutoff for my kid's level in our state was 36.975 and she scored a 36.9, so just missed it. Her coach told her that even though 4 kids decided not to go to regionals, they did not change the cutoff because with...

WAG Which vault is easier to flip?

Question first, before the long tale of why I am asking! In your experience as a gymnast, coach, judge, parent, etc, is a Yurchenko or a Tsuk easier to flip? Background is that my DD broke her shoulder at the main growth plate last year, seemed to recover fine. Then this year started having...

    WAG 2021-2029 Compulsory Program

this one bothers me a bit because our girls are doing gold now with the plan to test out of 4 and 5 the same day. They all have lovely full turns on beam with their arms in front of them. We have level 9/10 girls at our gym who do their full turn with their arms at their sides. What do you all...

For Parents Region 8 regionals - breakdown?

Thank you! No, she is several places out of qualifying. Maybe like 5-6 places.

For Parents Region 8 regionals - breakdown?

So my kid had a rough wobble on beam at States this morning and her coach and ended missing qualifying for regionals by .075. Bummer because other than that, it was the prettiest most solid routine I've ever seen her do (she is not a beam fan). A coach told her that sometimes if not everyone...

    For Parents Coach issues

At this point, I would just walk away. You could email or write to USAG just to get something on file in case future similar complaints come in, but I honestly would not spend too much time on it. Help your DD find another great gym where she is happy - and commend her for recognizing bad...

WAG Regionals - lower numbers than usual - any insight?

So I'm seeing that this year for level 7 it would be 37% (56/152) as you said but that in 2019 it was 49% (105/213 kids). That seems crazy low to me. I'm just being paranoid because my kid had one virtual meet and one in-person and her virtual score was pretty terrible in comparison to all of...

Ah! well in that case, have her try the DryBands alone! They improved my kid's wrists SO dramatically.

WAG Regionals - lower numbers than usual - any insight?

So I put this in a post about region 8 but wondered if anyone in any region had some insight. I noticed for NC level 7, in 2019 the top 105 girls (out of 213 competitors) made it to regionals. This year, it says that they will only take 56 girls. I wondered a few things: 1- are other...

    For Parents Wrist bruising-

Haha! Re-reading post from OP, I probably mis-interpreted! I read it as though her DD uses both together but she likely meant that regardless of which she uses, result is the same. Oops!

Try the DryBands without a separate wrist band. When my kid uses the DryBands alone, her wrists look so much healthier.

For Parents Region 8 regionals - breakdown?

Wow....those are some LOW numbers! I just looked at mymeetscores and in 2019, NC had 105 girls qualify for level 7 and for 2021, it says only 56 will go. I wonder if the number of level 7 girls is really that much lower this year or if they are trying to keep regionals small for safety reasons.
