    MAG Nationals!

My son had regionals on Sunday. He did not advance to nationals. Of course he’s bummed, but he isn’t destroyed by it (thankfully). He has 2 more years mandatory as a level 9 since he’s still just 12....he has time to further perfect his skills and score high enough to make it (hopefully)...

    MAG Nationals!

Woooohooooo! Congrats to your son! Regionals is this coming weekend for us (R5) and my son is nervous. I don’t think he’d make nationals, but it is covid and crazier things have happened. Keep us posted on your gymnast!

MAG Recalibration of MAG levels for next season?

I have no other info besides what my 12 yrs old son shared (and what I include in my post). I was hoping that someone with more info like a coach or judge would provide more insight. In the 7 yrs we’ve been involved in MAG they have changed age requirements so many times...and a level change...

For Parents Twins behavior (or misbehavior!) together

Wow, thanks all. That makes much more sense now. And it’s crazy that people have the desire and time to do stuff like this. Glad chalkbucket is on top of it to rid the forum of fake parents/gymnasts/etc.

For Parents Twins behavior (or misbehavior!) together

Curious, why is that bad/bannable? It must be a sign of something uncool, but I don’t understand what and why it would get someone banned.

MAG Does your son tell you anything about practice?

Great question. I think it’s more a personality thing. My oldest gymnast is very quiet/introverted and I felt like the least informed parent for years. Learning anything about practice or anything about gymnastics was like pulling teeth. That’s one of the reasons why I joined this...

MAG Recalibration of MAG levels for next season?

My son just came home from practice and described what appears to be a recalibration of MAG levels for the 2021-2022 season. In summary, all levels 7 and below are moving down 1 number...so instead of L4, 5, 6 & 7, it’ll be L3, 4, 5 & 6. A level 4 routine now will be the L3 routine next...

    MAG Mens/boys support?

Hello. Sorry for the delay, I didn’t realize this post got so popular. Yes, R5 is still on and they have now combined the compulsories with optionals. The dates will be April 15-18 in Battle Creek, MI from what I understand. Below is the link that was shared with me. Even tho the link seems...

    MAG Mens/boys support?

I’m glad you were able to find a new gym so quickly. I bet that’s a challenging transition (new gym, new coach(es), new teammates, etc.). It sounds like he’s handling it well though. My son was a L8 this time last year, and state was canceled due to covid, so we didn’t even get a shot at...

    MAG Mens/boys support?

Great, I will. I do try and stay away from the crazies...far away. Most of the boys gym families at our gym are balanced and sane, thankfully. I’m so glad our gym has survived covid...many others have not.

    MAG Mens/boys support?

We are in Region 5 and regionals are happening. I’m not sure if this is typical in other regions, but in R5, the L4-L7 have a separate event from the Optionals...two weeks apart.

    MAG Mens/boys support?

Cool. 7 was a weird level for my son...he was a really strong 6, and 7 was definitely a jump up. He was a much better 8. Good luck to your son this season.

    MAG Mens/boys support?

I see myself being more of an observer/supporter of MAG posts...but at some point I’ll get comfy and post. Good luck to your son this season.

    MAG Mens/boys support?

My L9 son didn’t start off strong...he really struggled as a L4 and first year L5. I think the rougher start helped build his tenacity and lowered his expectation to medal all the time. Now when he has a fall or a major mistake during a competition, he doesn’t fall apart. And when he nails...

    MAG Mens/boys support?

Oooo, yes, for sure. He’s a first year L9, so he’s still perfecting the harder skills (vault catch, a “double” off of rings, etc.). My younger son is a L4 and he’s just so cute and little...reminds me of when my older one was a 4. Good luck to your son this season.

    MAG Mens/boys support?

Thank you all...it's good to hear from you. Gosh I just loves MAG (I have a new acronym, yippy). I'm the last person on the world not on FB, but I'll see if I can access Our Flippin' Boys or use my husband's account. Thanks all...be well.

    MAG Mens/boys support?

Hello there. I’m a first time poster, so please be gentle :) I’ve read threads and discussions on this site for about 2 months now and I like it, but it’s very much weighted to girls/womens gymnastics. Both of my sons are gymnasts, the older one a Level 9. Are there other discussion...
