Most of us are making and have made "small sacrifices" such as loss of jobs, loss of a decent education, loss of important life events (graduations, proms, religious services, weddings, funerals) all to help save the vulnerable. We have been doing it since March. Maybe people are more civic...
She is only 13 once. Other than socially distanced gatherings on friend's back patios and hanging with her sisters, its all she has. Her risk is almost zero at her age, and we don't live near any older family members. My Dad already visited for the summer when my HS Senior "graduated". Her...
I like the idea of dual meets with another club. Maybe do one level at a time, clean in between, and live stream it for the parents. Could be fun and exciting for the kids.
I think they fall under the youth sports practices that can be socially distanced. I think the gyms they reference are like Lifetime etc. I could be wrong, but I hope not.
I am really mourning that my nongymnast Senior is probably never going to have a Prom or High School Graduation. That my 8th grade gymnast was robbed of state, regionals, her last few months at her school she has been at since preschool, her 8th grade Trip, her 8th Grade Graduation and maybe her...
My suggestion for you is to encourage DD to keep gym at the gym. My DD has had alot of success at the State and Regional level through her level 8 year until injuries have impeded her progress. Her friends and teachers at school have no idea of how successful she has been. Even as an 8 year old...
I know I sound like a whiner, but I would give anything for DD to have a meet season. She just left with her team on a trip, and there is no reason for me to go and hang with the other parents. This is her second year in a row of what is almost certainly a lost season, and it sucks. I love...
Thankful for great gym parents and supportive coaches who know exactly how to support injured athletes. She would have given up a long time ago but the entire gym experience (family) is extraordinary.
A little more info. She has had 2 mris, been seen by two experts, the fracture is clearly healed, ocd has been ruled out twice. She completely rested for over 3 months and has done a significant amount of pt.
Has anyone's gymnast had lingering significant pain after a fracture or other injury has healed. We've had 2 experts confirm that she is healthy and cleared for gymnastics yet she is still in pain, and can do very little. Any experience with this. She is beyond discouraged, and way too young to...
DD got 2nd AA at state, 1st on vault her age 11 level 8 season. and the summer after got injured and has had surgeries and injuries ever since. She has had one 3 month period in a year and a half that she could fully train. She repeated last year as a 12 year old with one event at state. She got...
Optional JO gymnastics requires an extraordinarily dedicated, resilient, focused, tough individual. They must be willing to weather painful injuries, long practices and overcome fear of scary skills. To keep going through all of it, it takes unwavering dedication. Your DD is telling you in as...
If this was what they were doing, I would say stay the course, they know what they are doing giving her another year with solid preteam training. But they are not. I work at our gym' s front desk a couple of days a week, and this is the sort of thing they do to keep the tuition dollars from...
Additionally 4 hour practices for 6 year olds is not good either. Ask any 1st grade teacher about keeping a child focused for that amount of time. 3 hrs should be the absolute maximum.
Let me say first that she really doesn't need to compete at age 6. I know it feels like she does right now, I totally understand where you are coming from. I can feel your worry and concern, and 8 years into this, believe me, I have had my sleepless nights. What she does need is a new gym that...
