I think you would need to go back and fix your technique as everyone has said.
For roundoffs try them from your knee, it will make you more aware of the area's you need to strengthen/correct tehnique.
For front tucks I find this drill really helpful
I think our rec program is pretty good, children are divided up into ages and ability and we have a huge program so we have the luxury to take both aspects into account most of the time. While we have a lot of workshops and we do share a lot of our knowledge among the coaches I do find that...
We use props to deliver the exercises. Eg. They pull exercises out of a bag or flip over cards with strength/conditioning written on them. If they want to be competitive they can see who gets through them all first obviously observing that they are performing them all correctly. Also if I am...
Maybe the fighter by Gym Class Heroes.
Or I don't know how far fetched you are allowed to be (personally I prefer the term creative) but you could do leaders and have I'm going to be a mighty king especially if their young, then you get a cute theme!
Not a drill but something that really helped when I was learning them. Draw a picture and explain what you need to do in each phase. Somehow it all made so much more sense.
I have had many, many, many of these kids and the best tactic for me is to be as strict as possible, usually as their behaviour improves I'll give them freedoms or some kind of reward to do with trust which I have found very helpful. Saying that though I've tried to be strict and quite often I'm...
I have a skill chart, they get a sticker next to a skill when it is competition ready. But you need to have it perfect for 2 training sessions in a row things like that so they don't get sloppy as soon as they do it.
Also I find competitions within the group are so motivating, eg...
Practice bridges with your feet raised to really stretch your shoulders so when you kick in your kickover your shoulders are already over or infront of your hands. It makes it a lot easier. When your coach spots you she's helping you do two things; get your shoulders over your hands and increase...
I found grips really hard to adjust to. It's not relearning skills so much as having the confidence to perform them. I was petrified of them therefore wasn't performing my skills properly. Also your gym should have a grip brush if it's what I'm thinking of. (A metal brush) Let someone with...

Raffels are a great way to raise a little money without spending much if you can find donations for prizes. Especially at competitions and end of year concerts. Make sure you have kids going around to all the parents as well as have ticket buying options or donation boxes next to where you buy...
Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone had any tips/advice/drills/sayings that they found helpful when teaching turns. So far we've strengthened their releve so they seem to be getting adequate extension in their toes but their biggest problem is moving their hips then chest or vise versa. They are...
While the bond one is incredibly overused it's ideal for not very graceful people because you can pass off very sharp precise movements as dance which I've found my gymnasts find much easier to cope with
I've found this really helpful in our gym. Also something to consider is that as you say she's been coaching compulsory for a long time it could be that she is aware of the requirements 5 years ago or something for optional levels, and just has for some reason overlooked checking an updated...

I found the drill against the wall really helpful with the gymnasts becoming aware of their shapes.
Also the drill with the wedge and tumble tramp I moved on to a standard crashmat to the floor because we don't have that equipment but I've found it really...
In the YMCA's around my area there is a charity which supplements the cost for all the different programs it runs including gymnastics. We raise funds for it constantly through sausage sizzles, raffles and many other things that I can't think of off the top of my head. As to who decides who...
If the problem is that they have their set I find that doing a hurdle round off and missing their feet to land on a wedge really helps over exaggerate the position the body needs to be in to go into a back handspring.
Usually I set the drill up off a tumbling track style trampoline (for the...
