On a side note, but still related....
Is it just me, or is the new optional level 6 potentially easier than the compulsory level 5. Since you can take advantage and play to peoples strengths?
Some of my girls are having an hard time understanding (or "doing"-for lack of a better word) the snap at the end of their front handsprings to get a good consistent rebound.
I am consistently training the front...reach, kick and block
But perhaps someone knows of some drills that will help...
i write right handed, gymnastics left footed, snowboard/skate goofy footed, kick right footed.
i actually happen to leap better on my right leg.
no one ever made such a big deal about any of it. it doesn't matter in my eyes what leg or arm they use as long as it makes sense to them. this...
yikes^
Personally (I understand what the rule is) i agree if they need to be spotted then it should be a zero in both level 5 and 6. If they can't do it by themselves, they shouldn't be trying it...
Thats like going out in the middle of the floor on a routine and spotting them on a roundoff...
Honestly I just don't know what to do anymore.
Went through a fairly mediocre meet last Saturday (and I am being generous here) scoring an average of 7.5 on almost every event.
While thats not horrible, it's also something that must be improved on. I'm not sure if they're unmotivated or what...
if your talking about cleaning as in "picking up mats and stacking them where they belong" ...the kids kids do it during practice because 24 hands are better than 4 hands. after practice coaches are responsible for making sure the gym is arranged as it should be after their classes are over.

maybe they're just playing "six degrees of separation with kevin bacon" or in this case.... "i coached with a coach who knows a coach that coached nastia liukin. therefore i am an elite coach"
there was an update to the rules on 8/21. hope someone can enlighten on it because it still says ONLY when hands are placed in front of the board, but now says for roundoff or fronthandspring entry.
UPDATED 8/21/12 - A correction has been made to the Apparatus chapter under Vault (page 67):

yeah i'm just speaking personally. i do have a FT job too so working from 8am to 830pm everyday is what my daily routine is, and if parents are consistently asking for time at practice (especially at the end) i may seem like i'm avoiding you because I just want to go home and sleep!! :)
and...
this whole subject make me cringe in irony! lol
we do not seek out conversation before or after a 3-4-5-8 hour practice schedule because we are mentally and physically exhausted. if you have a question, comment, or concern...please email or set up a time to meet. its really that simple.
even...
Jenny is awesome and very nice, its just her personality. The whole Gym Max staff is great, helps you set your mats/bars/ etc at meets. I think that the gym is just very positive and proactive with their athletes and it shows. I dont know them personally but we compete in SoCal, so they are...
yes, agreed. lots of kip cast away flyaways...working up to kip cast to hs flyaways, THEN giants to flyaways.
does she have giants by herself already? does she know how to slow her swing down? these are all things her coach should be working on with her...
