    Coaches and masks

We are in a mask mandate state (over age 10). Coaches wear masks. Most of our kids are under 10, so never wear masks. The older kids wear them going in/out, but not while working out. We’ve had no transmission/outbreaks, but several coaches/kids have gotten it from other sources. My daughter got...

Parents No Competition = No Motivation

My 15YO is also the only one left from her original group. Once teenagers see adulthood on the horizon, they start making their own life decisions. As parents, we like to see hard work and progressions in school or sports. Teenagers may become more focused on enhancing social skill and...

    Gym Closed?

Same for our gym. We have plastic ‘walls’ everywhere. It’s like wandering through a corn maze to across the gym. Lol

How is it where you are?

It’s a charter school. I did actually speak with the principal, but nothing has come out since then. The school does offer DL. At this point, since my kids have already had it, I’d prefer that they go back to school.

How is it where you are?

Public health is notified by the testing agency with positive results. They are about 2 weeks behind, though. I got a call from public health about contact tracing 2 weeks after I got sick. Kinda too late...

    And so it begins

Hope you all recover soon! My husband initially tested negative, but tested positive a week later. We knew he had after he lost sense of smell though. Very strange symptom.

How is it where you are?

Well, my kid’s school is actively concealing cases. The principal sent out an email blast stating there were no positives in the high school. My own daughter had tested positive and the school had been notified. Two of her classmates had also tested positive. I do understand HIPPA, but straight...

    And so it begins

Mostly recovered now. Took about 2 weeks to get over it. We’re fairly certain it originated from my daughter’s 6th grade class (she was notified of exposure right before we all got sick).

    WAG Gyms in Colorado?

5280 and airborne are good. There’s also Peak, though that may be too far south. Boulder had an optionals program, but discontinued it over the summer. Not sure how many of those girls were absorbed by surrounding programs.

    Parents What's after gymnastics?

Most of our older gymnasts (including my daughter) transitioned to coaching at some point. They love having the opportunity to share their passion with younger kiddos.

Parents 4yr old seems to have stopped progressing

I wish I had a 4 year old in one of my classes with those skills. She sounds quite talented. I don’t ever teach backbends or kick overs to 4YOs though. The youngest I’ve seen a kid learn a back hip circle is about 5. Even very talented, hard working kids will take a while (months, sometimes...

How is it where you are?

Way worse than last spring. Stuff is still open for the most part though

Parents Anyone gone back to school in person yet?

You must be in the Denver area. Our Colorado county is just below 6% and many kids are going back in person tomorrow. Masks are required for ages 10 and up. My own kids’ school is having elementary in full day and high school half day/hybrid. Of course I have one of each. It’s a transportation...

    Parents Xcel Bronze to Gold

There’s not a huge jump from bronze to silver. The lower xcel levels are nice because kids tend to score well. Gold is more difficult, but if she has all the skills, it should be fine. The extra practice time will help, too.

    Parents Xcel Bronze to Gold

I believe USAG requires competition and score out in silver before moving to gold. Are they planning on a score out meet for her?

    Return to gym stories

Thats a ton of kids. I wouldn’t be comfortable coaching or sending my kids for practice. My husband is not even loving the idea of very small group practices (likely will be10 or less in the facility). I get that it’s a financial strain on the gym, too. Full rec classes pay the bills. There are...

    Return to gym stories

They had a ton of kids warming up on floor. Does Texas have restrictions on number of kids in the facility at one time? We have a huge facility, so looking at running a couple of small groups at once, but the current regulations in CO are kind of vague.
