    Preschool training

She says it doesn't hurt anymore! I think there was some minor underlying issue there! Thank you for asking! From what I have learned - the mini-squads or pre-team teams compete at level 3 (some gyms) or 4. I went to a competition last week to watch and the gym she goes to puts their mini...

    Preschool training

to gracefulone - busy and SMART! WOW you must be super busy- but definately it sounds like you enjoy everything you do! I like your parent's idea of exposing you to alot of activities - then you get to discover your own strengths, likes and dislikes. You must need an incredible planner to get...

Off Topic Just watched "Stick It"

stick it My 5 year old dtr LOVED the movie (although parts of it went right over her head) she wanted to watch way-way's(no idea how to spell her name) beam routine over and over. And all she wanted for christmas was an ipod - which we had to put Way-Way's beam song on!

    Shoulder Flexibility

I do not know how old the girls are you are teaching, but for a different approach to shoulder flexibility and strength you might want to try the power bands. They are long rubber bands and there are a multitude of stretches you can do on them and the girls could do at home over a door frame...

    Coaches question for coaches

Thanks Thanks for the info, we went to see the level 3 and 4s compete - they did it in a traditional format - I now know the level 3 floor routine! I think we watched it 50 times! I thought my dtr would be bored, but she did not want to leave, I bribed her because I could not hear the music...

Parents Is your gym parent friendly?

answers I thought I previously answered this, so if this is redundant please excuse. 1. Gym is not parent friendly - or I am not coach friendly! The physical layout of the gym mirrors the atttitude coaches on one side, parents on the other 2. SAFETY primary concern. I expect encouraging...

    Back flexibility

shoulder flexibility That was quite an interesting thing to do - my whole family had fun measuring our shoulder flexibility using a hockey stick. Results - my 19 year old son (who is a pitcher) can lift the stick way far up, yet his friend who is a catcher can only lift the stick 4-5 inches...

    Parents Valued Activities

slushie It is a plain two flavor slushie machine. It makes slush puppies. Sugar and ice. Not my favorite drink for her! They should sell great coffee - it would save me a trip to the coffee shop before class.

    Parents Valued Activities

Other activities at the gym Other activities valued at current gym: Birthday parties and open gym. Day camps (during vacation weeks) and summer camps (half and full day camps) Both my children have had a blast at various camps the gym has offered. Also the availability of leotards! My dtr...

Parents Why did you enroll your child in gymnastics?

Bonding time at the gym When we started I thought my dtr would meet some children. She was two at the time, however, I soon realized that there really wasn't anytime in class for her to meet any other kids. Instead we bonded and had a great time together! We still go to open gym when we can...

    Back flexibility

Besides bridges and backbends what are some other at-home drills to safely increase back flexibility for a five year old? My dtrs dance teacher said she needs to 'work' on her backbends. (I find the dance studio is much more aggresive at priming kids for company) I need to get clarification...
