    WAG Nationals question

You cannot score above a 10.0. So if you say it's 10.0 SV + .1 and you score anything over a 9.9 you only get the amount to take the score to a 10 added. If you say it's 10.1 SV and you have anything less than a tenth in deductions you score a ten. If you qualify for the bonus and have one tenth...

    WAG Nationals question

This is the most ridiculous argument ever, 10 + .1 and 10.1 are the same thing. The final score can't be over 10.0 no matter how you say it.

Parents Three years at level 4?

If it were my kid and changing gyms wasn't a desired option, I'd have her do XCEL. If she's scoring 36s there's no need for another year of Level 4, and I can't imagine how boring a 3rd year of the same compulsory routines would be. I'd do the year of gold and re-evaluate after next season. If...

    Ankle injury

Yikes! You need to see a doctor, an injury can not be correctly diagnosed over video by someone who isn't even a doctor. If your parents are truly unwilling to get you proper treatment, find an adult who can take you to the emergency room where they can do X-rays to make sure there is no...

Parents Would you stay for preteam?

Required privates to make preteam would be a huge red flag to me; I'd talk to the gym about what the whole process is, and if this is really a requirement, I'd start looking at other gyms.

Parents Does your gymnast care what event they start on at a meet?

I liked to start on beam and get it over with.

    WAG Safe practice ??

I'd run as fast as I could from this gym; if they think this is safe; I can't even imagine what other terribly unsafe things are going on.

    Parents Home work

You're not being neurotic. I broke my arm when I was 5 doing cartwheels on a floor beam at home. I think you're right to encourage conditioning at home, but keep the skills in the gym.

Parents Elite sports that require “other” lessons

Please don't beat yourself up; it sounds like you are doing the best you can. Remember even the people who look like they are doing it all probably have worries and problems in their lives; they are just good at hiding them from others. No one is perfect.

Parents Elite sports that require “other” lessons

She's 8; your health and the quality of life for the rest of your family are suffering; no sport is worth that.

    WAG Worlds Team 2023

Congrats, Joscelyn! I think they did a good job picking the teams this time.

Gymnasts to quit or not to quit?

If you hate the gym so much you can't even make it through warmups and changing gyms is not an option, it's time to at least take a break. You could be the best gymnast ever, but if it's making you miserable it's not worth sacrificing your mental health.

WAG Bull City Gymnastics Coach Found “Not Guilty” for Sex Crimes Against Minors

The one coach I had that used the touching private areas is just normal spotting is serving a life sentence in jail, so nope not a normal thing.

    Parents Which gym?

Agreed; "TOPS" training and Xcel Bronze seems like a bizarre combination. I'd be guessing it's just an extra class to get more money out of naive parents.

Parents Does starting at age 6 vs 7 matter?

Doesn't matter at all. IMO, the extra year of dance will be beneficial if she does start gymnastics next year.

    Parents New gym....mean girls

Go back to the old gym; if your daughter isn't happy at the new gym it doesn't matter how good the coaching is.

    Parents PARS/Degenerative Disc Recovery/advice?

Best advice: listen to the specialist even if they recommend quitting. Your daughter will thank you when she can walk without pain at 30.

Parents Level 3 - beam fear

I had the opposite happen; I had a horrible block on my BHS on beam (compulsory Level 7 in the 90s) and my coaches made me compete without it; it was really embarrassing to score a 5. 30 years later I still wish they had let me scratch the event. Sometimes a little extra time without the...

Parents No score out for level 5?

They did this for Level 5, the 1st compulsory level, way back when I was competing. It seemed to work well putting the focus more on individual improvement vs. winning.

Parents Jelousy hate and rage from teamates and parents

Lol, pre-team with no pullover to training elite in a year, 5 privates a week, coach trash talks the rest of the team and parents; yep this is totally not made up.
