My younger sister just competed L8 at Nationals and trains 2.5-3hrs/practice twice a week. After nationals they cut hours in the summer (with the option for more if desired) and in the fall are back to their regular schedule.
Is anyone else nervous about how this is going to play out? My fear is that Laurie will end up getting cut out of the AA race over this. Obviously Simone will be doing AA in quals, and almost certainly Aly as well. That leaves two bar slots, and Gabby + Madison would bring in the highest...
I noticed that Simone is landing a punch barani on beam. Exciting! I'm having some trouble IDing most of the gymnasts watching from my phone, but I'm pretty sure I saw Aly on vault and Gabby on bars. Aly's DTY wasn't quite as clean as I was expecting and Gabby seemed to consistently struggle on...
Is anyone else watching the podium training live feed? I saw that Simone has a punch barani on beam now! I'm having a little bit of a hard time IDing most of the gymnasts but I'm pretty sure I saw Aly on vault and her DTY didn't look as clean as I expected.
Any other observations?
This morning she took 2nd in flight / 5th overall with a 50.7 on tumbling. I can't believe she made the podium twice! This has been an incredibly successful meet for her.
Some of y'all may recall my thread from last year where my younger sister competed at nationals in Spokane:

This year we're in Ft. Worth, Tx, which is disappointingly close to home - I would have preferred something more "exotic"...
I know I've seen threads before about how USAG recommends not introducing backbends before a certain age - I think it was 6. Can anyone supply me with a link to this statement? I haven't been able to find anything on Google.
I'm not sure whether this is the right place for this, but when trying to acces ChalkBucket today I got an "account suspended" page several times before it suddenly let me back in. I'm not really sure what was up with that as I haven't posted in a few days and before that not in quite a while...
It sounds to me like they are not rotating fast enough, which probably involves not jumping high enough and possibly attempting to turn with their legs first instead of their shoulders. Are they able to keep their legs straight during the turn? Do they ever open up to a straight body position...
A recent thread on high hours in WAG reminded me of something I've wondered about before. How many hours do competitive T&Ters train as opposed to WAGers? At our gym, everyone level 5 and up trains for 5 hours a week during the school year, which seems insanely low to me compared to WAG. We...
