So my dd had a pin and a screw. She just was cleared yesterday to use the elbow for weight bearing and hang from bars and PT was ordered. She was not allowed to start PT until 6 weeks post cast removal. She had her cast on for 4 weeks post surgery but surgeon would not allow PT because she...
Well its 10 weeks since injury but only 6 since the cast came off. We have a really good PT that works with our gymnasts once a week at the the gym, she was surprised no pt yet as well. She has given dd exercises to do at the gym. Just swimming and and doing conditioning at the gym and...
My dd fell off of low bar doing a half pirouette at the end of february. She had a severe dislocation and fracture that required surgery and pin and a anchor screw. She got the pin taken out 4 weeks post surgery and cast removed. Her arm was still swollen and severely bruised. She has not...
Mine got hers finally on Monday 4 times in a row. She tried to show her at the end and couldn't do it. Missed practice on Wednesday for a Disneyland day with friends and then couldn't do it Thursday. Hoping it reappears next week!
I agree about the gallon. I filled a half gallon about 1/4 full yesterday. She said that seemed to work. Going to take her swimming next week. Thxnks for sharing your experience.
So I emailed my dd orthopedic surgeon to ask abut therapy and exercises for her arm to help get it to straighten and this is what she said.
"For the first 6 weeks after cast removal I prefer not do do therapy as aggressive therapy can pull the bone apart when it is not completely healed. If she...
Thanks! We did buy stress balls as recommended by one of the coaches. The ortho had a daughter who was a gymnast level 10 I believe. She is familiar with the type of training in optionals. We have a PT at our gym that works with our gymnasts once a week on strength and conditioning. She was...
This is all very interesting. My dd 11 years old level 8 fell off bars doing a half piroette 6 weeks ago. She had a full dislocation and fracture of her elbow. She had surgery with a pin and an anchor put in elbow. She got the cast off and pin removed 4 weeks after surgery. She has 6 more weeks...
When my 10 year old dd noticed how Gabby walked away from her coach while getting corrections it says something. Young gymnasts are watching and looking up to these athletes.
My dd had a very similar experience. Last meet of the season, state meet, everything finally came together. Scored her highest AA in the 36's and 9s on three events. Season started tough and finished on a high note. My vote is "d".
My DD struggles with the same issue. She's been getting 8.6 to 8.85 on level 7 bars without getting to cast handstand. Funny thing she can do it on low bar but not high bar. She's the only one her group who can't cast to handstand and the youngest in her group by a year.
