I bet you LOVE that close parental input! Must really add to the coaching. :D

Parents Perspective on Moving Out of Gymnastics To Tumbling Exhibition Team

My daughter just left gymnastics for dance. She takes 2 acro and 1 lyrical class/week. She is loving her free time and loving "gym" at dance. We found this school through 2 dance instructor friends that recommend it. As long as she is at a good school, I would not be concerned about safety...

Parents DD only one in her team who did not qualify...

The same thing happened to my daughter in Level 4 and I think her first year in Level 5. She was at a gym that pushed kids to the next level whether they had all their skills or not. This was a very difficult thing for her. This gym is pretty aggressive with their feeder program to search for...

Parents DD's Transition from Gym to Dance

As to the scores. There were some good teams there, but I didn't see anyone that made me go ooh or aah. Scores on floor were as high as 9.75. My daughter had a clean routine great leaps, great FHS, good BHSBHS, etc. and got an 8.55. One of the lowest scores she's ever gotten on floor. They...

Parents Buy a Bar or not to buy a Bar

Just bringing a bit of levity to the thread. You can do what you want. When you saw that ppl advise against getting the bar you wrote of taking her to open gym and coaching her there. Your choice, your kid.... But it won't help her gymnastics and will more likely (way more likely) hurt her...

Parents Fess Up - What have you bought

Floor beam (occasional use, but none now that she's out). Chinup bar (less use now that I made her stop swinging on it). Tramp - Loves loves loves it, even uses it before school sometimes. Best purchase I've ever made. She's an only and it keeps her hyper self occupied.

Parents Prayers needed for a young gymnast who was recently severely injured

What an amazing little girl!!! Praying for her. I've worked with a lot of spinal cord injured patients and it is a very difficult road, but this kid is tough. She will do well no matter what the future holds. Amazing...

Parents Buy a Bar or not to buy a Bar

I was supposed to teach her to brush her teeth??? :jaw-dropping: Nobody told me this!!! No wonder the Dentist always gives me a generous Christmas gift. I thought it was 'cause I'm so CUTE! :p Seriously OP, doesn't matter if you're a Coach or not... Home is home as Dunno said. Can't...

Parents DD's Transition from Gym to Dance

Well, we've (yeah, part of it is me) been out of gym for about a week now. DD has had no problem transitioning out. Has been tough for me... But, I'm finally where I should be as her Mom. Her last meet had some seriously lopsided scoring (as in NJ teams >9.5, PA teams <8.6 for clean...

    Parents I'm Ba---ack!

Sorry, but had to stay away for a few weeks as DD transitioned from Gym to Dance. Was a difficult transition for me, but an easy one for DD. I'll post about it in a properly titled thread.

Parents team parents removed from gym

Sorry, too lazy to read the whole thread... but why not just turn off the tv monitor??? That way everyone can stay and no one watches every waking moment of practice. My daughter just left gymnastics for dance and at our gym parents were only allowed to watch from the rec. side which was...

    Parents DD's Final Meet

Well, she had a great final meet. She hit 4 for 4. Scores were ridiculous. She had a clean bar routine could have had bigger casts, but this is nothing new and got an 8.4 I think. She usually scores 8.9-9.2. Beam (her best event) she was cautious - nothing too big - took her time and went...

Parents Update on DD Leaving Gym

No, she is doing level 5 again. She is afraid of BHS/BT, BWO on beam. They don't spot at this gym and I believe that has added to her fear. I know she's done, I just hate that it is fear that has chased her out. But, I suppose with gymnastics it is always something, fear, pain, injury, life...

I wish I had advice to add. I'm so sorry this happened to your DD. So unfair and mean.

Parents Update on DD Leaving Gym

Update #2: Still adamant she wants to quit ASAP. Saw her counselor today who pointed out that kids live in the here and now. Gymnastics seasons are kinda long (not over until end of April) and recommends letting her quit on her terms in her time... So Kay is going to think about it and give...

Parents DD is Moving On From Gymnastics

Yes, I am still in touch with NettyinPA. I know her DD is doing really well. I will tell her you guys are missing her and I'm sure she'll pop in with an update.

Parents Update on DD Leaving Gym

Well, I was expecting tears when we talked with the coaches (dd's not the coaches ;). But, there were none. She was a bit apprehensive and stressed about her fears. Coaches came up with a new game plan. I still think she is done, but will finish out the season. I want her leaving gymnastics...

Parents Update on daughter since she left gym

Sounds like your DD is really enjoying her "new life!" I know with my DD, the biggest stumbling block to her making the decision to leave was us giving her an out and assuring her there were things to do besides gymnastics. When thinking of leaving, there were tears and she would say, "but...
