My older DD is L8, 16 soon and is pretty flexible.
Usually after practice or after a short warm-up at home, she stretches her legs for 15 mins or so and then holds the maximum oversplits she can get. She first puts her front leg on a 10 inch eraised surface and holds it for a minute. Then she...
Question time again! Sorry!
As DD is working on her straddle press, some thoughts came to my mind.
So she has a standing straddle press and almost got it from sitting.
Once she can comfortably do it from sitting up and back down again...what about the press handstands done on beam? Will she...

Older DD who is a Level 8 started using Tiger Paws at Level 4 and pretty much always wore them.
Of course, if she tumbles at home she doesn't wear them, but at the gym, as soon as they started Round Off Back Handspring Back Tucks on floor and Back Handsprings on beam, all of the girls on her...
Oh ok, sorry for my misunderstanding!
In my opinion, shape doesn't really matter in gymnastics. Of course, skinny lean gymnasts might have an easier game with press handstands and powerful ones with big quads might be more explosive...but these are so tiny things, I think they don't really...
I have actually neither asked for weight or height nor told it of my kids. I would never ask something like that! I was just curious, as most little girls seem to be tinx and lean but some are really muscular etc...
I was also interested in how it changed during puberty....but in no way I wanted...
How is your gymmie built?
Younger DD is pretty much the average little gymnast. Tiny, skinny and pretty lean.
My older DD had a weird build when she trained 22 hours a ween. She had very skinny legs, narrow hips and a pretty small butt. But her shoulders and arms were very big. She almost...
I was actually asking if it is really "easier" to get from good L5 skills to L7/low L8 skills than from scratch to L5, because you know all the movements, have the strength etc...
First of all, thanks for your opinion.
I and the coach were talking about a gymnast who has all L5 skills.
So
FX: RO BH BT, running front tuck, FH FH, split jump and leap+straddle jump and leap
BB: back handspring stepout, full turn, split jump, handstand dismount
UB: Kip, cast to...
Thank you for that. I didn't know that double twists, front twisting or double backs off bars were even allowed at L8 and I totally agree that just two years for achieving this is a very narrow time frame!
So you also think it might be possible in two years to get to the "entry routines of L8...
hmm, that sounds pretty realistic and logical!
So L5 compared to an average L8 routines would be:
FX:
RO BH BT : RO BH BL/ FULL TWIST
FH FH, running FT : FH FL FT
BB:
BH : BH Series
Handstand Dismount : RO BT Dismount
Split Leap : 180 degree Split Leap
UB:
Kip, Cast, Front Hip Circle...
When I picked up DD from training two days ago, I had a chat with a coach who is new to our gym. He is very nice and experienced. I talked with him about many "gymnastics" things. There was something he told me I was really curious about so I thought I am going to share it and ask you.
For me...
Thanks sooo much! I really hope she will be close...the test will be at the end of January, so 6 more months to go!
Yes, that's possible, but Level 2 is pretty small in this gym and so they train together with Level 1. So the group is pretty big and she would definitely make faster progress in...
Yes, she really wants it, I never force my kids to do something, but within the years and especially the last months, her love of gymnastics grew a lot. she is doing it everywhere. I know she won't be Elite one day, but making it to Level 8 would be great and that is definitely what she wants...
Hello Community!
My account just got approved - yay! So hello everyone, I am very glad that I found this website
I want your opinion and would appreciate everyone's input.
