O'keefe rocked! But sorry to see so many good gymnasts out of the running due to injury. That seems to be such a wild card. By the way, if you have a slight ankle sprain from vault, what's the danger in still doing bars?
Could it be that Kim is the one out of touch and perhaps Ragan is going along with it to amuse her? Also, my DD's coach used to give out candy for good routines. I guess beads are healthier than candy.
*which are obviously great.
I really enjoyed watching the junior elites and wondering which ones will make it to the Olympics in 2020. Can't wait to see them all again at P & G!
The juniors were really fun to watch. The returning ones improved so much from last year, and the new ones were great! I want to watch the playlist on YouTube to enjoy them all.
Anyone had any favorite new juniors routines?
my SoCal friend is moving to NorCal, and there are so many gyms to start with. We counted 10 gyms within a 30 minute drive of Palo Alto. Any suggestions?
Is it the app or is it Metroplex, the gym that hosted the Nationals meet? Because I noticed metroplex's scores from January's meet are missing from MeetScoresOnline too.
When my daughter's wrist got really bad, it hurt on every single event and on handstands during conditioning. She was also at level 8 at that time and was going through a major growth spurt.
Tiger Paws helped a lot for floor and vault, and she wore tight compression bands for her wrists on beam...
hi, my daughter had a successful level 8 season despite her wrist problems in the beginning of the season. She scored a 9.275 on her vault at regionals and has been pretty much getting that score since the beginning of the season.
At one point her coach was going to teach her the yurchenko pike...
I was wondering exactly how she prvented the problem from recurring after her 7 months recovery. Now I understand. It sounds like if you had not changed gyms and continued doing the same thing with the same coaches, the problem would have returned.
Wow! What was the age range and level range for these 14 girls? What percentage of the optional gymnasts did that represent? And finally, how long was it from the start of your daughter noticing an achy feeling in her elbow to the time you took her to the doctor and she was diagnosed with OCD?
Thank you! Actually, I was referring to osteochondritis dissecans, which is an elbow injury. And I agree that gymnastics is a breeding ground for obsessive compulsive disorder, too.
I know of 5 girls at two different gyms with OCD. 4 of them were diagnosed during or after their level 8 season. One of them just after her first year as a level 10. They all have faced long recoveries.
Can someone tell me, is this purely genetic, bad form, or overuse ? What is the best way to...
