WAG Taking an "F" for middle school PE

I “homeschool” my DD for pe only. Because of this she just doesn’t have pe listed on her report card. You could check to see if that is an option.

Parents What's a reasonable amount of BWOs?

I think 20 is too many with or without pain. My dd now does a max of 10 (like the rest of the team.) If she experiences any pain she stops. She then focuses on her back exercises and takes a few days off of doing any bwos or bhs. Then she starts over. 3 for a few days, 5 for a few days, etc.

Parents What's a reasonable amount of BWOs?

I agree that back pain shouldn't be ignored. When my DD was having pain (once we ruled out something serious), she was limited to 5. The rest of the team were doing 10. If she had any pain the number dropped to 0. Her fabulous coach monitored and would remind her to stop. She has slight...

WAG Welcoming kids back after switching gyms?

I don't think I'm a CGM. We have girls that train with my daughter that don't compete. I'm fine with that. I'm fine with a kid moving in from out of town. But as a parent (I am not a gym owner or coach) I would be upset if multiple girls who left came back mid season (to compete or not) IF the...

WAG Welcoming kids back after switching gyms?

That is a great idea, however as a parent I wouldn't like it. I feel it would be unfair to let 5 (or however many) kids into my DDs full training group in the middle of meet season just to train. It would take away from coaches time and equipment. Unless they were able to have another coach help...

Parents skipping dinner b/c of late practice

I would pack up dinner for my dd in a thermos or other container. She was so hungry after practice she didn't care if it was hot. When we got home she drinks a glass of choc milk then shower it usually allows for a few minutes of down time and ice cream. We have a 30 min commute so it helps the...

Parents Experience designing a modified school schedule?

I'm going to homeschool my 7th grade dd for PE only. They have PE every other day for 1.5 hrs. I requested it be last and they were willing to comply. However, I know that other schools in our district will put PE whenever which requires the parent to pick up her child in the middle of the day...

Parents Another round of "Your kid might be a gymnast IF..."

Omg! I used to tell mine "no naked gymnastics" because she couldn't walk to her room after a bath. At 12 she has become a bit more modest.

You walk around the track on your hands.

    WAG x-brace durability

My dd wears them for pronating arches. Much easier than taping.

Parents Totally off topic question...when did you have your DD start shaving her legs??

Full leg. Although I tried to convince her knee down only.

    WAG x-brace durability

Following for the future. My DD has only been wearing them about 6 weeks. 16 hrs week at gym plus some additional time at home. She has some strings hanging that I need to trim. I can see how they might only last 6 months. But she loves them and they gave her immediate relief so I can't imagine...

Parents Totally off topic question...when did you have your DD start shaving her legs??

My DD started shaving at 10 after she asked a few times. I really didn't think it was necessary but I didn't want her to feel self conscience. She uses the Schlick intuition which sounds like the Venus mentioned above. She has tried a regular razor and an electric razor but prefers the...

Parents Level 3 bar skill variation

Bars has always been the strongest event for my DD. She did a kip at one meet as a L3 with great results. The next meet she didn't have time to warm them up and then it was states and she didn't want to possible lose points so she didn't do one. I think it proved to her that she could do it. She...

    WAG relocating to mid-missouri

Welcome to Missouri! We relocated here a year ago and love it. Wish I had some advice on gyms for you but we live further east. I'm sure we did some meets with gyms you are looking at but my DD is a L6 so no advice - just wanted to welcome a fellow Missourian.

    Off Topic Non gymnastic sibling

My 14 yr old non athletic DD has been playing volleyball for a couple of years. She loves it because "it is indoors and not a ton of running." She also likes being part of a team. She plays at the YMCA. I feel it gets her active a few times a week and she has gotten much better. She puts more...

    WAG Practice Hours?

My 11 yr old L7 does 16 hrs in the summer and during the school year. It goes to 20 hrs at L8.

    Parents Change gyms?

Also, do they start competing at the same level? Other gym may put her on team as L1 or L2 whereas current gym might not start competing until L3.
