    Parents Level 7 floor

Actually I meant a front tuck step out, front handspring, front tuck. Is this a level 7 or level 8 floor pass

Parents Feel my daughter is being overlooked

Thanks again for all the advice and encouragement. The head coach did watch my DD some during the practice today. He approached me while the kids were doing their conditioning after practice. He stated that, for now, she is where she needs to be. Her biggest area of improvement is in her...

The coach for her rec team tonight is the head coach of the whole gym. He has worked with kids at different levels. I think he "steps down" to advanced rec once a week to scout. Now I just wonder what I should say to my dd to prepare her for this tonight.

Well...well...well. So I called to ask our fabulous desk attendent who I should speak with about this. The head coach just happened to be in the room and she put me on with him. To add to this he told me he would be teaching the Tuesday advanced rec class. He told me he will evaluate her and...

Parents Feel my daughter is being overlooked

You guys have been wonderful!! I have been struggling with what to do and now I feel that I have a place to start. Gymgal, it's totally ok that you raise the question about my attitude. If anything, I have not been aggressive enough. I am very pleasant to all the coaches and go out of my way not...

Parents Feel my daughter is being overlooked

I do agree that I probably have not been talking to the right people. I don't want to be "that mom" the gym sees as pushy or unrealistic about her child's abilities. She starts the advanced rec team tonight and I will scope it out for a couple of weeks to see how she's doing. If I feel she is...

Parents Feel my daughter is being overlooked

She is determined to get on a competitive team, and at 7 I know she is getting "old", therefore she is doing private lessons to speed up her skill level. She goes about 2-3 times a month for an hour at each lesson.

Thank you gym mom - the most important thing is that this is what my daughter wants. She is the hardest working kid I know. She practices all the time, she watches videos on skills and has the Gabby Douglas Story memorized. She is all muscle and is very powerful. Yes. I'm hoping the team coaches...

To move her up quicker. Private lessons are 1:1 and she learns new skills faster. It's common at her gym.

I'm somewhat confused on how things work at this gym. I think you get a tryout and/or invite for preteam at age 4-5. Then you can move onto a level from there. You can't compete until age 7, I believe. I need to sit down and talk to the owner or another coach. Maybe I don't understand what...

Parents Feel my daughter is being overlooked

My daughter has been taking gymnastics since she was almost 4. She was invited to try out for pre-team at age 4 but we had vacation planned, and I was naive about its importance. Since then she has enjoyed rec gym and is moving to advanced this week at age 7. She is a quick learner and got...
