I know, I have to admit, that I am probably a roadblock. I cant help but want to keep the pressure off as she eases in and i worry about safety as young coaches might get excited and have her chucking big skills before rebuilding strength and form. And I know my daughter - she will throw...
thanks everybody! we have some tough decisions to make for sure, i hope we do the right thing, im just not sure I am ready myself....Definitely a life changer. If anyone from mid-missouri can msg me directly, i would appreciate it!
thats why i was thinking it just didnt seem right.....but then what if she doesnt have enough skills back to go JO....do they just drop back a level or just scratch the event until its ready?
unfortunately you are probably right....i hate to admit it, but unless she wants to swap gyms within a year, i guess that means i consider a drive [emoji31]. lots of fire in her at the moment but I dont know if we could commit until we knew she was serious. its a huge sacrifice.
would it be unethical for her to compete the Xcel for a year even though it will likely be easy for her? I just feel like the lower hours might be an easier transition.
hmmmm that seems fairly easy for her....she went to a few open gyms recently and even after being out could do these requirements. Vault - she had a yurchenko LO but was tucking into the pit at open gym.....Beam: front and side aerials, standing back tuck/pike, BHS LO LO, working...
they have Diamond :) I just dont know anything about Xcel....my thought was similar to yours though....she could say, load up a beam routine, but take her time on bars if necessary, right?
gfgymnast thank you for the input! we are definitely not sure what to do. She's had a tremendous amount of early success and we are hesitant to put in her in a high pressure scenario.....but, I have to admit, even I have considered a drive to be inevitable if she becomes serious again. College...
i should include she "retired" at age 10, level 9 and is currently 11years old. Was pretty intense, but a non-gym injury had her call it quits for awhile.
yes. Gym A's xcel team scores are quite high. Gym B looks like they are just a young team...scores are rough(compared to what we are used too...they might be considered great here, i dont really know.). Gym C has a one or two high scorers. I suppose I need to learn more about xcel.
hi guys....after some time off and a relocation, my sweet girl want to put her toes in the water and return to the gym world.
out for about 18 months, coming from an awesome gym experience and my sweet girl is nervous about all these small gyms
Gym A: very small, no pit, xcel team only at the...
Abuse is abuse. But here's the thing, the coaches don't even realize it. It's not done on purpose, they think they're helping, I mean DD looked awesome on paper. And, because I wasn't a gymnast, I had no idea how this worked, and thought it was normal, as other girls were going through this...
Munchkin3,
You are absolutely right, and Hopefully, they have learned and grown from this experience as well. DD just turned 10, and I'm confident will not be a L10....they are not pushing her to go so fast, which Is a relief for all of us.
Plus, after being out with broken foot for 6 weeks...
Hey guys, I can confirm. The advice on here is true! If you are even considering a gym change, you should have done it much sooner!
My only regret is not leaving sooner, dragging it out only prolonged the inevitable.
Update: DD is so excited about gymnastics, she isn't crying anymore. And...
Well, I think it's safe to assume that DDs coaches think I'm "inventing" her unhappiness. Do they really think I want my daughter crying every night? It's crazy how quickly the people you have trusted, and I mean trusted, with your children can turn on you when you no longer play by the rules...
:) I think after observing today it's just as much the break in the monotony as any particular coach. A different set of eyes to show off for, eyes that don't have any particular expectations.
But, you can feel the positive energy in the gym the past few days. No tears in the car today, so...
Guess what? DD had a different coach than normal on floor today and she actually used the word F-U-N in describing the floor rotation. This hasn't happened for months. Feeling blessed to catch a glimpse of her smile today!
