    junior. Intermediate,Senior? Can someone explain?

Yeah I know - my DD will come into it from her first 3 day school camp (Wed - Fri), hope she doesn't draw 7am Saturday morning! On the other hand if it is Sunday we will loose out on the tickets we have already booked as we thought it would be ok to qualify at a regional event like last few...

    junior. Intermediate,Senior? Can someone explain?

No chance - we had planned to do a regional comp to qualify but it is a no-go, so I wonder how many will bother to do those comps now? We won't be going anyway. The Metro Qualifier will kind of be a States before States! Wonder how they will do the sessions at actual States since there is no...

    junior. Intermediate,Senior? Can someone explain?

Nope, I wasn't wrong - coach checked with a Committee member and it is the one comp only available for qualifying to States this year NL5 & 6. They will take the top 160 athletes from the qualifier. There is quite a bit of grumbling about it, maybe next year will be different!

Just noticed that Gym NSW has it's Technical Handbook back up on the site - All the listed comps at NL5 (see page 18) are either individual or for State Club Championships: NL 5 team competition will be combined teams with no age divisions (Max 2 teams per club). Looks like your gym is...

    junior. Intermediate,Senior? Can someone explain?

See you there! We are in NSW and my DD is L5 this year too. FWIW our gym will send one gymnast to a session. If we didn't there would be none competing L6 and above! We have a big L5 team this year, but last year, as far as I'm aware, only 1 or 2 competed each of the higher elvels. We have few...

World Cup (in Aust) Live Streaming

https://www.ovo.com.au/play/#/gymnastics/live-stream One of the mums at pick-up let me know about this last night. I missed yesterday, but maybe will see some today! Only available in Australia - don't know if there is a way around it? On the other hand - stuff like this usually NOT available...

Parents understanding that how you practice affects how you compete

My 7YO DS is very similar in attitude - you are not alone! There are a couple of boys the same as him and a couple of more driven ones in his training group. There is one quite laid back girl in my daughters group but on the whole the boys seem less focused than the girls. Great posts above. We...

WAG First Dowel Grips Question - help make our decision?

Thanks all for the suggestions! Decided to go with the Hot Shots then found out the supplier is having difficulties and can't get them - bummer! Looks like $47 postage from the USA so that isn't really an option either. So I can get a lightly used second hand pair from a girl who has outgrown...

WAG First Dowel Grips Question - help make our decision?

Disclaimer - we are in Australia so the choices are limited!! We have been asked to get proper grips now they are starting to do giants. Coach prefers buckle but doesn't mind which type. DD not quite 10YO weighs 32Kg is L5 training L6/7 (so L4 in the USA - we are around one level below) DD...

    Parents Full Out

Thanks for these - I managed to find a copy of Full Out (had looked previously but we are a bit slow down here!) Well worth it - DD and I loved it. DS was at gym but I'm sure he will like it too as he loves Hip Hop moves! DD liked Raising the bar also - I think one of the characters (Aussie...

    MAG Age requirement changes?

I know this may be a totally ignorant non-USA question - but why May 31st? Is this special or just a random chosen date? Hope it isn't brought in in Australia cos my DS is an end of May birthday! (we are currently ageat Jan 1st)

    MAG comps in NSW

Thank you :) Very helpful :) Kaybee - I must have been blind! Found this doc for other states but not the NSW one. Looks like my boy will be out of age already next year unless he skips a level (he is 7 soon). Not that I care but thought the boys had far more time than the girls! Is there a...

    MAG comps in NSW

Probably a bit of a long shot given the small MAG community teamed with the small Australia contingent but... Anyone have any idea how MAG Grand Prix comps work in NSW? My DS will compete for the first time this year. They have a team event as well as the individual, so different to the girls...

    US Rio Leo

Funny! my 6YO MAG DS was rather disappointed when I told him he wouldn't get to compete with any bling!

    WAG Crop tops/sports bras

Another Aussie here and I'd say in our gym it is 50/50 leos Vs crops/singlets & shorts. Nearly every girl wears bar shorts. They take the shorts off for the 'practise' routines for around two weeks before a comp date and often are required to wear the team leo (long sleeve) too. Here is a link...

    WAG Gym Rant!

Funny rant! I totally get this! My DD is the same and stubborn to boot. We have gone with the flow.....she has her hair cut chin length cos she can't be bothered to deal with it and the only cute/girls clothes she has are leos. Must admit she has quite an extensive range of sparkly leos :D

    WAG First Kips - yay!
