DD started gymnastics the first year level 3 was a thing. We only did a 12-week rec class before she competed level 3 so I came in knowing nothing about the world of gymnastics.
Our season recently ended and our girls were grouped into their new training levels. DD is training 8, one of the...
DD is an 11 year old L7. She has been icing her back pretty regularly after practice. She says it doesn't hurt the day after just during an after practice. I asked her why she didn't say anything before and she said it just hurts all the time so why bother complaining about it. So very...
Is it just my DD or is this an extremely frustrating age for gymnasts? She always upset about one skill or another. I'm so sick of hearing it the last few weeks. It's taking everything I have not to just tell her to quit already.
Sorry, mom rant.
So I found a great article on Head games that I want my gymmie to read to help her through a block, but I'm afraid to give it to her because from reading on here I know I am not supposed to bring up the block . Any suggestions?
FWIW she is 11 and I think she is making progress but I am really...
Dd trains 18 hours a week. They gym offers day time team open gym some days off school for two hours. The coaches work with the girls on specific things they need, there is no free time. It's $20 which is nothing since we pay well over $400 a month for tuition and another monthly $235 in meet...
I am so bummed and just wanted to vent here. DD has been confirmed to compete L7 this upcoming season, only her and one other gymmie are going from 5 to 7. You may remember me talking about how close all the girls on her L5 team were. They were literally all best friends, they did everything...
Our gym requires Giants for 7. Another mom whose daughter is close asked me if that was a gym rule or a usag rule and I realized I didn't know. Anyone?
If a coach wouldn't mind me running a situation by them that I'm not sure how to handle I would appreciate it. I'm afraid to put it out there since it's pretty specific. I'm very distraught at the moment.
Thank you!
Dd came out of practice tonight excited she got her cast flyaway dismount. I think that's what she called it, but she competed a flyaway last year so I was a little confused on this one. She actually seemed more excited about this than the handstand so I didn't want to start asking a lot of...
So, 4 years ago this summer my dd was in her first ever rec class. As the session was close to an end we were asked to move to team, I wasn't sure this was what we wanted to do and I inquired about taking a few weeks to talk about it and decide if we would go that route or just sign up for...
Just wondering how hard it is to go from strap bar giants ro real giants. To my unexperienced eye it looks like night vs. day. I hear other gym parents saying different things but they don't have gymmies that actually have giants so now I'm curious.
My DD is starting middle school next year and the bus will pick up at 6:45. This is a huge difference as now she does not even have to wake up until 7:30. In tandem practice hours will be extended another half hour on the back end getting her home around 9:25. She only has 1/2 hour in between...
With States coming up this weekend and the team/coaching changes not too long after that I'm feeling very sentimental. Our team has been like a 2nd family this year....maybe because we are a small team (less than 10).
I know it's the nature of the sport, it's just hitting me hard this season...
I guess I'm just thinking out loud but sometimes I really wonder what makes them tick. My DD has been chasing a 36 all season, finally achieved that (barely) the last meet in March and then goes to a meet last weekend and gets up in the 37's.
I am just wondering if it is because:
a) She knew...
Coaches: What has been the hardest level to coach and why.
Parents: What level is your child and what do you think has been the hardest level so far?
My DD is ending her L5 season next month and says L4 has been the hardest so far. I think is referring to the jump in skills.
The next meet we are attending is an invitational. DD has mentioned she was told by a coach that Invitationals tend to score easier than other meets. I really didn't pay it much attention but this past weekend I heard one of her teammates saying the same thing. She is also referred to it as...
I know some of you have been following our L5 journey. DD got her 36 tonight and is on cloud 9. So happy moving onto optionals doesn't feel so out of reach now.
She is REALLY hoping her coach comes with her.
This sport really is a roller coaster!
