    WAG chalk on beam?

Our gym let gymnasts chalk their feet/hands. But also let them draw lines (thin ones) of chalk to mark the beam for their acro series start point etc. But they are not allowed to cover the beam in chalk

    WAG Summer training

^^^ this! My gym used to shut down for 2 weeks in the summer and I would be away for a week as well so 3 weeks off. I swam 2-3 times a week at my local swimming pool and every day when I was on holiday. I also did lots of walking and a little bit of conditioning. Swimming is the best thing to...

    WAG Coaching while pregnant

One of my old coaches supported / spotted loads of skills on all pieces right up until she went on maternity leave. Some things she would try and say it wasn't comfortable so someone else would do it. And as you said, she didn't spot anything that had a high chance of her having to catch them...

Coaches Please help me fix this bail!!

Based on my experience of coaching bails. I would say it is a weakness in her core (or simply not fully engaging her core), as it appears that as she clears low bar she is loosing tension causing separated legs and an off balance HS on LB x

WAG Heel pain, "lumps" in bottom of heel

I vaguely remember one of my gymnasts complaining about pain like you describe. She was about 8/9 at the time. I would take her to the doctor or a podiatrist to get it looked at. Almost sounds like scar tissue in the way you've described it

    Coaches Rotation length for rec?

With the really young ones in our beginners group (aged 5-6 average but some older ones) we try to do 3 15 minute rotations as they get bored easily and don't have as many skills to work on for each piece

    Coaches Rotation length for rec?

For our 60 minute rec classes we do a 15min warm up including cardio and for advanced classes extended flexibility. We then do 2x 20minute rotations as we find 15minutes isn't long enough. Leaving 5 mins at the end for cool down and certificates for passing badges :) Within our 20 minute...

WAG Do you know about spring floor construction??

That's what we did. Raised loads of money to help fund our week away for an international invitational :) we played games and all sorts haha

WAG Do you know about spring floor construction??

Also, I helped set up our floor in the new set up, but I have no idea what our spring set up is specifically. But probably a bit more spaced out that the set up you mentioned

WAG Do you know about spring floor construction??

We never had this issue with our floor - the causing of joint pain. But our older/more advanced girls complained that the floor was too stiff and not springy when we upgraded our set up. We did a fundraiser - pay £2 to come and bounce. Open to the public, did 4 30 min sessions and basically...

Coaches Coaching with a horse voice

This. It is hard with the really young ones as a lot of communication with this age group needs to be verbal and quite loud to get the attention required for you to be able to instruct and explain activities to them safely. But @ayyyrial is right. Coaching in itself if you stack up a lot of...

Coaches Coaching with a horse voice

What sort of level are you coaching? And what age? It all kinda depends on the age/ability of the gymnasts in your care

    WAG 2017 Las Vegas invitational

Here is the link to the USAG website results from the meet. There are a few girls in the US that I am following and was looking everywhere for the results and just happened upon them. https://usagym.org/pages/women/events/zonequalifiers.html If you scroll down the the head 'national...

WAG Elite: the new "shaposh-like" rules

At my gym we teach uprises to the girls too. In some cases as a save incase a high bar skill goes wrong - for example some of our girls who have only recently got their high bar upstart/kip have been taught to uprise so that if they miss the upstart they can uprise and still get credit for a...

WAG Elite: the new "shaposh-like" rules

The rule is that they can't do the empty swing out of a shaposh - so we will probably still see some kips/upstarts out of them. Just without the extra swing in the middle. I was on a coaches clinic about the new CoP a couple of weeks ago, and the tutor mentioned the possibility that some girls...

    WAG Osgood-Schlatter Disease?

Also, because it is a tendon, if the problem is with the Achilles' tendon you may find heat on your calves helps more than ice

    WAG Osgood-Schlatter Disease?

People on the forum can't give medical advice. But wait until you see the physio. They will be able to offer you a wide variety of treatment options to try and sort out the problem :)

    WAG Need Judge's Advice

Not a US judge but happy to have a look as I have a copy of the US JO rules as my gym is looking at coming out for a meet next year :)

WAG Judges, Coaches: Is this in the COP and what value?

Unfortunately I don't think the combination Handstand, Toe on/step down into Bail wouldn't work to receive a C. To receive a C for a bail I think you either have to go directly from Handstand into the bail (missing the toe on basically) or do the toe on and land in Handstand on the low bar.

WAG Judges, Coaches: Is this in the COP and what value?

I'm not sure, as I was looking at the International CoP for elite gymnastics because I don't have the JO one because I am in the UK
