My daughter is thinking about going back to gymnastics (Xcel) after leaving her gym at the end of the summer. She is currently doing HS track and they practice 5 days a week after school. The head track coach has a strict policy about attending all practices. So, she would have to do two...
Not really looking for advice. Just wanted to vent.
My daughter who was moved up to Xcel Diamond is probably done with gym after this season. She had a great season previously but two of her main coaches ended up leaving and she mentioned a few times during the summer she wants to quit. She did...
My daughter (competing platinum) does have a kip but no clear hip so she does this.

Not as pretty as in this video.. but I think it meet the requirement. That is what my daughter told me.. not a coach
Do some gymnasts find clear hips to be a scary skill? My daughter has struggled with them for years. Before taking a 13 month break she had decent upper body strength and could do a nice back extension roll. I think some of the issue now is strength but wonder if it could be something else...
I don’t know. But there is a college gymnast who does almost all front tumbling. https://www.google.com/amp/s/gymnasticscoaching.com/2021/02/19/who-is-kendall-whitman/amp/
Interesting. I had considered selling my home in the spring and the realtor I worked with said people were relocating because they could continue to work for home. A salary for a company based in an area with a higher cost of living buys more house and land in an area with a lower cost of...
Mine was out for 13 months and has most of her skills back. She did only a little conditioning at the beginning of the break. Bonus - she overcame a block with vaulting and says it her favorite event now.
There is a girl at my daughter’s gym who switched to Diamond after level 9. She is still competing into her senior year. She also coaches the Silver girls and competed on her High School diving team last season..
My daughter who is now 12 was diagnosed with scoliosis almost 2 years ago. She started out wearing a brace just at night and curves were well controlled.
The curves did progress this year to 20 degrees as she she had a growth spurt, entered puberty and wasn’t wearing the brace as much...
I think there was another conversation about this but I can't find it. For those who aren't comfortable sending your gymnast(s) back to the gym but who plan to return at some point. What are they doing in the meantime to stay in shape and maintain skills safely at home? My daughter quit...
My oldest just started at a state university. There is a $900 athletic fee each semester. Students do get free entry into home games. But even with no sports this semester they still have to pay the fee because most of it goes to support athletic scholarships.
Thanks for all the data/info. I just ordered one. Told DD she could only use it if she does conditioning and stretches. She had said this was her last season but has been asking me to order one since being on this forced break. Will see... how it all plays out..
Staying in shape will good...
