Back in Jan ’17, my DD broke her elbow attempting a CW on beam. When we were in the ER after her accident, she vowed that she was never going to step on a beam again. While it didn’t take her long to change her mind about that, she did come back much more fearful than she had been before...
As some of you know, USAIGC is one of the less competitive alternatives to JO. The last meet of the season is the “World Championships”, which is next week in Nashville. While it’s not difficult to qualify at my dd’s level, I’m super proud of her for all the hard works she’s put in this season...
I was active on CB A few years ago when my DD was on level 2 pre-team. I was overwhelmed with the support I received from this community after she broke her arm at practice. I thought that this would be a good time to send an update for anyone interested :D.
More background… She became much...
This may not be new, but I just noticed that older threads are now locked
Thread Status: Not open for further replies.
Is there a new rule that any thread without activity for 90 days is automatically locked?
Would it be possible to give social group admins the ability to disable this rule...
To my Fellow CBers,
While reflecting on my dd’s first year on team, I want to take the time to thank this wonderful community for helping guide me/my dd to where we are today. Thank you for also providing me a safe place to ask questions, to share and to vent. I’ve been entertained, inspired...
I believe that my dd overexerted herself playing with her friends at the hotel the day/night before her meet.
There are several weeks before my dd’s next meet that will require an overnight stay. I was hoping to build on Flippin A’s great idea:
The activities could be for just her good...
I understand that most of you are in a different boat. NY DD is a low-level gymnast in her first season competing. I know that she wants to do as well as she can at her meets, but since she’s 8, I’m making some of the decisions for her.
She’s improved at her meets as the season has progressed...
About 4-5 months ago (shortly after my dd joined her gym) I found out that the only 2 girls that live in our general area were carpooling to the gym. The moms' were happy to include my dd into the carpool but they always have a plan for who will drive. As frequently as my wife offers to drive...
This is a follow-up from: https://chalkbucket.com/forums/threads/getting-evaluated-at-another-gym.60026/page-8#post-525811
Thanks to everyone that has helped steer me (and my dd) in the right direction. I’m absolutely certain that without the guidance and support that I’ve received from all of...
I'm wondering what policies different gyms have about recording or taking pictures of your own child at the gym.
I don't think my dd's gym allows it unless she has a private but I've never asked.
Gymnastics brings out the best in my dd. Some of her best qualities shine through more in her gymnastics than they do anywhere else. It got me wondering where these qualities came from (nature vs nurture). To be a competitive gymnast takes a lot of things: love/dedication...
I emailed the admins but I haven't received an answer so I thought maybe someone else might know.
I got a notice that my premium membership is about to expire (it's now expired). I can't figure out how to renew/upgrade my membership. (Why) has this functionality gone away?
(this doesn't work)...
I decided to start a new thread because this is off topic from the original post in the thread it came from. This isn’t about gymnastics (but it does specifically have to do with being a parent or guardian) so the mods should feel free to move this if it’s not in the right place.
I’m finding...
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this.

It's a hypothetical about no Olympics.
As usual, I had planned to write a short and concise post and ended up writing a book :D. Sorry in advance.
I just received some team information :) (How cool is that?! Team! & Information!) Before they can compete, each of the new team girls (including my dd) has to pass skills tests in each...
I’ve posted on another thread that my dd is currently level 2 and was recently evaluated for level 3. We’re expecting to find out by the end of the month. Her gym does not offer regular summer training but instead 7 optional weekly clinics. First one starts Jun 26, last one ends Aug 11. She’s...
How do gyms normally inform kids of move-ups? My dd JO2 (they don’t compete until Level 3) told me that at the end of gym today the coach gave the “good” girls a piece of paper (she did not get one). She claims to not know what it was for but she was sad to not get one.
She’s definitely has had...
