My daughter had a “fracture” in her growth plate, also was told it is called “gymnast wrist.” She was casted for 6 weeks and braced for 2. When she began back in the gym she was told she had to wear tiger paws on her wrist by her ortho. She wore it for the rest of the season (3 months) then...
To me- as anathlete in HS with large breasts, and now as an adult with less than perky large breasts I will tell you... the underbreast band is the best indicator of support. If it is a thick elastic, better support.
It needs to be a thick and of elastic.. and tight around the ribs.. honestly...
Camp Woodward (PA) or IGC? I'm really looking for opinions on those who have attended both camps, worked at both, or are experienced with both. My DD gym goes to Woodward every year, and she attended this past summer and had a blast! They are changing the week their team attends, and the week...
Where is her pain? My DD had pain after being cleared by her orthopedist to return to the gym. We came back a month later because she was still noticing pain (not severe, and not when placing pressure on her wrist) and I did not want her to go through the severe pain and casting she had to do...
This is what I'm thinking... she's progressing too quickly to learn proper body form and technique. The coach sees this and does not want her to be injured.
This!![emoji121]️ we have had girls switch from our amazing gym that produces D1/D2 athletes to a gym that has an elite track and the name is "known" in the state.. some of these girls quit after switching and many return or go to another gym. A coach, while an amazing motivator and teacher...
That being said, eBay is amazing for deals. I'd say my daughter prefers ozone, alpha factor, and GK elite Leo's, but she has one from garland she thinks is comfy! Ozone does clearance sales, eBay is amazing, garland has sales, and discountleotards.com has pretty good prices for GK and alpha...
I hand wash all Leo's, and never had one that didn't last! I've been able to sell all outgrown on Facebook or eBay or our gym. Handwashing in draft and hang to dry.. can't go wrong. Plus I let the leo bin pile up and hand wash all together.
My DD loves ozone tank Leo's in the foil, she says they are more comfortable than most.. she's never had a comp leo from them though. Quality is excellent with ozone. My DD old gym only orders ozone for comp Leo's and none of the girls complain
I don't necessarily think it is secretive.. gyms are overwhelmed with children and families, to have an individual tour of the facility during operating hours would be impossible. Could they have told you where to wait? Sure. Maybe the coach assumed the front desk had let you know that. I don't...
My DD took classes at age 5 for 6 months before being invited to an "in house" team. She did that for a year and was invited to JO, but we switched gyms and she tried out at the new gym and was placed preteam (l2) for a year and moved on to a successful l3 season. However, we had girls on her l3...
Completely agree! Our gym does NOT rush girls from 4-7 or 5-7. If a girl is TRULY ready, she will go from 5-7, but *most* compete a year of 5, a year of 6, then a year of 7. This is actually very common for *most* gymnasts at the larger, well known gyms in our state and area. The girls that move...
My daughter has very tiny hands. She's level 4, but even on her team her hands are TINY. Their coach recommended Pixie dowel grips for the whole team. She says they are better for beginners and small hands, and also stated many girls can wear them until L8-10.
Not KT tape, it's self adherent bandage tape. Looks like this https://www.walmart.com/ip/12pk-Self-Adhesive-Bandage-Rolls-Strong-Elastic-Self-Adherent-Cohesive-Tape-Roll-First-Aid-ACE-Wrap-Bandages-Wrist-Ankle-Sprains-Swelling-2-x-5-Yards/224678758
That stretchy tape, I think it's called self adherent sports tape. It provides support but still allows there wrist to flex enough to shift and perform on bars without pin from the tape
Yes, I understand.. my point being we don't do extra hours for toPS training.. our compulsory levels are just that, compulsory JO.. and without TOPS/HOPES/ELITE tracks at our gymnour girls aren't conditioning or training nearly as much.. and in addition, we lose many great gymnasts to the other...
My DD had this... we went to a pediatric orthopedist. They were very knowledgeable and familiar with this. My DD was cashed 8 weeks, braced 2 weeks, follow up X-ray to check progress.. then I was shown the area on the wrist to watch out for if she had pain. I was told if the pain came back to...
