My daughter has a dancer in her gym class at school and the pe teacher is always saying how she’s the most athletic kid in the class by far. My daughter and I just laugh about it at home. She doesn’t care like yours I don’t think she puts much effort in pe class.
Wow I feel like everyone’s answers are super high. My daughter is training level 7 and has only scored a 36+ twice, only gotten a 9.5 on an event once. I would say a 34 for her is a decent score, 35 good and 36 is a great meet. She’s hardly ever on the podium for floor, beam, or all around but...
We have a cap of 20 for the classes going back full time. That allows 3ft with a mask. Our middle and high school buildings are new with larger classrooms we can fit 20 in there with all six feet apart but they are hybrid right now.
I don't know a lot but I think a lot of our girls do a roundoff into the dismount for their other flight. I don't think the dismount can count as the second flight element.
Ok maybe not. We’re sorta rural all the big counties near us are doing all virtual but one county is offering 5 full days for students or virtual and they had a case in their jumpstart program so thought that might be your county.
You must be near me :). I’m not in that county but in a county near it that goes hybrid starting Monday. Hopefully they have it set up so the student didn’t spread it....I guess it will test if there procedures work
I’m so glad to hear this as my daughter goes in two weeks and I’ve been worried that it may not be super fun because of the restrictions in place. It’s her first overnight camp so she has no expectations :). We are lucky the camp is in Tennessee because my state is not allowing overnight camps...
We went into phase 2 this past Friday and our gym started indoors Monday. They sent a new list of procedures but I haven’t read them yet because we’ve been out of town so haven’t actually been in the gym itself yet. I think our gym is following gym guidelines (not youth sports) based on thingS...
I’m in central va and in phase 1 we are doing stuff outside in groups of eight kids and two coaches. I’m not sure when inside gymnastics can start (Which phase, phase 2 is not even available to read about yet) but you all in NOVA are most likely entering phase 1 Friday so should be able to do...
My daughter did level six last year and she has always had a mental thing about back tumbling If the floor is to hard. Well in her routine at one of her meets she only did the round off she balked on the back handspring. Finished the routine and scored an 8! I was surprised I mean she still...
When my daughters hair was chin length we would do like four little pony tails in the front (to keep bangs back) pulled back into a Regular pony tail. Hope that makes sense.
My daughter did not have her backhandspring at the start of her level 3 meets. She did without the first meet (just did roundoff rebound), then the next two meets they spotted her on the floor. She scored much better with the spot than going without the handspring. In level 3 I believe there...
When my daughter first started with both worked in the office full time. Her gym had a camp so she would do camp 8-11 they would pull her for lunch and to relax for a bit and then she'd practice 12-4. She was the only team girl who did this for the two summers we had this schedule (although...
I think the 34 is reasonable but I think that's the highest it should go. My daughter routinely scores 33-35 and is in the bottom quarter if you rank her level of almost every meet. Her teammates are similar. None of them look unsafe out there. Through no fault of their own they had a rough...
So my daughters coach is having her do a backwalkover for level 6 beam. I feel like from reading here that this is no longer allowed (?). I've brought it up multiple times and she says there is no deduction for doing the back walkover. They did change the vault so I feel like.they know about...
Even before the Nassar scandal when I signed my daughter up for gymnastics my parents (her grandparents) were not happy. They didn't say anything when she was in rec but when she started team they were not that happy. They had heard about abuse in gymnastics before that. It was our decision...
That is a good point that random acts of cheer brought up. My daughter just finished a season with a coach who did not believe in her and it was rough. I would never want to be in that position again. We actually just switched gyms because of this, I wanted her confidence back and a coach...
Does your gym have a camp? That's what I did with my daughter the first year she would do camp in the morning they'd give her an hour break to eat lunch and relax, switch to practice in the afternoon, and then hung out with the campers another hour until i could pick her up. And the plus was...
