Parents Should Gymnast compete with a Mental Block?

It’s heartbreaking she has done it the last few days without any spotting and no coach on the floor which is great but I’m afraid to count my chickens yet as I know it could be gone again today (obviously hoping it’s not) coach has ask me to come look at her floor routine this evening and I’m...

Parents Should Gymnast compete with a Mental Block?

She had a disastrous session this evening only got it every 4 times with coach standing there all the time, and towards the end couldn’t get it at all, the rest of her routine suffered too. I spoke to the coach who said she didn’t have to compete on floor if she really didn’t feel up to it...

Parents Should Gymnast compete with a Mental Block?

Awful to see your once confident gymnast, so unsure and scared thanks for the advise. We are heading down in a while for a private lesson to polish a few things up. I know I won’t be able to talk to coach then but I will ring her after. I did say it to her at after training yesterday but she...

Parents Should Gymnast compete with a Mental Block?

I posted on here a few months ago about my daughters back tumbling mental block, she is 10 years old. It got better for about 2 months and unfortunately came back again . It has really affected her confidence in general and has affected all pieces. She can still do the tumble but couch has to be...

Parents Hair removal for young gymnast?

Thanks everyone, thought we'd have a while before we needed to worry about things like this esp with nearly 20hrs of gym per week thought that might slow things but if memory serves me right I think I had some underarm hair at 9.5 buds at 10.5 but didn't get my period until 15. Strange the way...

Parents Hair removal for young gymnast?

Hi everyone, hope someone can give me advice? My 10.5 dd has some under arm hair she wants removed. What would be the best way? I read waxing will almost eliminate hair over time esp if started young but worry it will hurt her alot. Advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

Parents How to deal with dd's tumbling mental block?

Just as I feared she's still not out of the woods. I was talking to the coach over the past couple of days and she said dd still needs help on floor. She is fine on softer surfaces at the moment but still struggling on floor. She said her main priority now is to prevent it getting worse. So she...

Parents How to deal with dd's tumbling mental block?

Small update I was down in gym tonight collecting dd, I saw her do loads of standing back tucks off beam and on floor and a straight back off beam no spotting on any of them. I was super excited. We got into the car and I told her I saw her doing great stuff when I was waiting. She was proud and...

Parents How to deal with dd's tumbling mental block?

Thank you so much for all the replies. I really appreciate them. I am upset for her of course but I do not let her see that, I am trying to be super positive and bright and have never brought up 'the obvious' I never will unless she brings it up and even then I will only be positive and...

Parents How to deal with dd's tumbling mental block?

Parents Does anyone's LO do plus levels?

Yes that's right it's loop bars and range and conditioning I couldnt think of the name so called is physical prep. Tbh I don't really understand it myself that's why I was curious to see if other countries do plus levels and what exactly is it about.

Parents How to deal with dd's tumbling mental block?

Thanks momstrong. Dd still hasn't mentioned that she is having issues with tumbling and I don't want to bring it up as i feel i would be highlighting it/making an issue of it. It's so hard I havent seen her do any tumbling in gym since as i only see her for few mins b4 training ends. I'm...

Parents Does anyone's LO do plus levels?

My dd started doing plus levels over a year ago, there are 9 levels in total instead of the usual 10. There are 2 extra elements so 6 altogether bars, beam, floor, vault, loop bar and physical prep (which is called something else but can't think of it now) I never heard of it before dds coach...

Parents How to deal with dd's tumbling mental block?

Parents How to deal with dd's tumbling mental block?

Thanks for replies. I'm a bit confused Aussie Coach, you say that its common to spread to other backwards skills but then you say if it has spread to other skills it's deep seated in the subconscious. Do you mean skills other than backward skills? Thanks

    Parents Update on mental blocks

Good to see this success story, gives me hope for my dd who also seems to be struggling with a mental block, i have put up another thread about it. It's going be so hard for me to play it down and not ask questions but I will do it if that's what's needed.
