    Web Server Returning Error Message

I didn't really have a way to contact you since when I tried to get to any post or message I got an error. I thought about it and almost sent you a message through facebook but just didn't. I am glad it magically resolved!

    Web Server Returning Error Message

I have not been able to get into Chalk Bucket for a couple of months now on my computer which is where I use it the most. I didn't know if it was on my end or Chalk Bucket's end, but I just thought I would try this morning and I was able to get in. At first, I got the error message, then I...

NCAA NCAA proposes creating new subdivision (paying athletes $$$)

My husband and I discussed this last night too. I don't see how national/regional championships would be on a level playing field since those schools not paying their athletes would be competing against those that are paying their athletes. There is no way to compete against $30k per year...

Parents Season 2023-2024: How is your gymnast doing?

I have no idea since she is away at college (D3). Their first meet is second week of January. But I still don't ask since I don't want to put pressure on her. I have no idea if she will even make a lineup as a freshman. She did say that the team as a whole is weak on bars so maybe she will...

    WAG Best recruiting advice

I think the disconnect between the emails and reality is that recruiting is a full-time job that most coaches don't really have time to complete honestly and accurately. However, I find it completely disingenuous that a young gymnast would get letters saying they will get contacted and then...

NCAA Utah Makes Leadership Change (Tom Farden Out)

He should have been on leave when they were conducting the investigation. There is no way the athletes could have been completely open with him still coaching at the time.

NCAA Utah Makes Leadership Change (Tom Farden Out)

So just read the College Gym news report and they did say Farden was on administrative leave, but I guess my question is when did they put him on leave? It makes a difference for the investigation.

NCAA D3 College Recruiting - When to start posting recruiting videos?

My daughter is at a D3 school (freshman year after a gap year) and personally I don't think the recruiting process is any different than D1. They basically have the same rules as to when a coach can contact a recruit. Also, D3 is getting more and more competitive due to the increased college...

NCAA Utah Makes Leadership Change (Tom Farden Out)

Univ of Utah responded very poorly to this whole situation. Both UCLA that had racism accusations a couple of years ago, and now Utah with mental abuse accusations have handled athlete complaints without taking into account the athletes' wellbeing. NCAA needs to create a standard protocol for...

    WAG Best recruiting advice

Just read the Washington Post article. It is so very sad that so many female gymnasts have to go through the emotional wreckage to be a scholarship athlete. I think the issues are still rampant in club gymnastics which then sets the stage for gymnasts to accept bad behavior at the college...

    Parents Results with PRP?

My daughter had it done on her ankle. I think it was the final option we had left, and I think it did help as she did get back to gymnastics. It is still considered "experimental" which means insurance won't cover it. Also, the healing time can be quite long at least 4-6 weeks and then back...

Parents How to help after a competition

I get that. My daughter's first year at the State meet she didn't get anything, and I think even came in last in her group. I was worried but we stopped at the DQ on the way home just like every other meet and when we got home, I thought she might want to quit, but instead we had movie night...

Parents How to help after a competition

Did she get new high scores on any event or all around? Did she have fun until she didn't place? Did you go out after the meet and celebrate no matter what? Obviously without more details on the meet it is hard to answer this. However, some gyms do hold kids back on purpose the inflate their...

    Parents New gym....mean girls

Just so you know, many gyms will not take back a gymnast once they leave. Our gym was like that. So, you should find out before you leave if they will welcome you back before you assume you can come back whenever you want. You may be stuck with the new not so nice gym.

    Parents Regression and Mental Health

I am sorry you and your family are going through this difficult journey. If the gym's attitude is D1 or failure, I don't see how that is sustainable. Let's face it, D1 athletes now are basically almost professional athletes. There is a post on this site that looked at who was getting D1 spots...

    WAG Running, weights, and age

I agree many have seemed to accommodate their form and it doesn't affect their vault. But then what if they had great form too? You never know. Running form for sprinters is very important, when tenth of seconds makes a huge difference. Distance runners not as much but better form would help...

    WAG Running, weights, and age

I get that, but I see a lot of people running with weights in their hands thinking it is helping...and I don't think that it does.

    Parents Championships in San Jose

BTW, saw your daughter's youtube video's and it was very exciting watching her and knowing you are part of CB. I hope she continues to succeed and reach her dreams. My daughter liked her routines and said, "Yup, she's a bars girl!"

    WAG Running, weights, and age

As a track and field athlete please don't run with dumbbells, even if they are only a couple of pounds. Running with weights creates a very stiff-arm movement when running. When you are running your arms should work with your stride, not against it which tends to happen when you run with...

Parents No score out for level 5?

I ran anything from 800 to 3000 meters, mostly the 1500 and on a lot of relays where they needed me. I was a walk-on, and as we have discussed in other threads, a mediocre career due to lots of injuries from running on a small indoor track that were hard on my knees. Back when I ran the PT...
