    WAG Level 5 End Poses

But if the pose is a "judgeable" skill, the judges can take execution deductions and general faults and penalties. Performing a simple pose at the end would get no deduction, where as if you chose to do splits as your end pose, you had better have a 180 split or it's points off. If you choose an...

    Coaches Ordering New Competition Leotards

It's been almost 10 years since we have changed our team leotard. Our gym has decided to change it this year...but how do you do it? We recently got a new catalogue from gk. We found one that we like, and want to see what it would look like with our team colors. I get on the gk website and...

Parents Making it work - money doesn't grow on trees.

Region 5. I honestly figured that I wouldn't continue coaching, though I would absolutely LOVE to. Does anyone think it would be kind of weird?? Coaching compulsories is my thing. I like to coach other classes, but I really love compulsories. Pre-team is my next favorite. I love teaching...

Parents Making it work - money doesn't grow on trees.

I always knew I had it easy being from a small town. Gymnastics has been a part of my life my entire life. I grew up in the usag system from the time I was 3 in the preschool class, and started coaching as soon as I quit after my second level 9 season. I am now 35 years old and have a 9 year old...

Parents Can't a girl catch a break?? (Long)

Yep :) that's exactly what the dr said! Ice bath her from her feet to her knees 2-3 times a day + Motrin + topical anti inflammatory. Heel cups for her shoes and try the cheetah cups for workouts.

Parents Can't a girl catch a break?? (Long)

Well, took dd to the dr about her heels. He checked her out and did some X-rays. It's Sever's. Hopefully we can get it under control. He said she can go ahead and compete this weekend as long as she can tolerate the pain, but should start to take it easy afterward.

Parents Can't a girl catch a break?? (Long)

I havent, but am not against it...it didn't really cross my mind that it could be something nutritional since she takes a multi vitamin and eats all kinds of stuff. She's my kid who isn't a picky eater :) I honestly just think she's had really crappy luck lately :/

Parents Can't a girl catch a break?? (Long)

...and I don't mean a break in one of her bones! I mean just a break. My 9 year old dd has had one heck of a season - and not in a "good" way. Let's take a look back, starting last August: August 2012: dd caught a nasty case of the stomach flu. Ended up seriously dehydrated which caused a...

    Parents Elbow hyperextention anyone?

I thought so too, but this was coming from the urgent care doctor and not the surgeon that will assess her when the cast comes off, so we'll see what he has to say. The surgeon saw us briefly, because the urgent care doc consulted with him before casting her. Surgeon confirmed fracture and...

    Parents Elbow hyperextention anyone?

This is NOT a post for medical advice, just wondering if anyone had dealt with this type of injury and how long was your child out? My 9 year old daughter was doing one of her regular power tumbling passes (roundoff full whip whip full flic full punch front). This is a pass that she has done...

Coaches, moms, dads, or gymnasts: Ganglion cyst

Preface: I have made an appointment for 8 year old dd to see the doctor, but her appt isn't until tuesday of next week. Ok. A couple of weeks ago, dd started to complain that her wrist hurts. A couple of days later she came to me and asked me to feel this "bump" on the "inside" of her wrist...

Novelist looking for information on gymnastics.

I think I have to disagree just a little...AAU gymnastics may not be the path to the Olympics or to the World Championships, or even to anything in the USAG world, but I don't think that it makes it "unimportant"...My daughter competes power tumbling through USTA and AAU, and holds 6 national...

    Gabrielle Douglas Floor Music??

For those of you who have never heard her floor music, this is what she used at the classic and at the visa's last night. I'm sure she's been using it longer, but......Gabrielle Douglas-Floor Music 2011 - YouTube I suppose I missed something somewhere, but...I thought floor music was supposed...

Standing back tuck before RO-BHS-Back tuck?

This is not the progression that my dd's gym (gym A) uses, but I do know a coach from another gym (gym B) who is very strict with this progression. Both gym A and gym B have members on usta national tumbling team and brought home top team awards from USTA Nationals.

    Parents How many leotards?

Now I don't feel so bad! My dd has 24 leotards that fit (including her competition leotard) and only 6 left that dont (too small)...need to start selling on ebay again! I do swear that ebay is the best for buying and selling leotards. If you take good care of them, you can usually get back about...

    Parents What ever happened to??????

Hi there! :) So funny that I even saw this thread! Anyway, I am still around...just very guilty of lurking mostly anymore - I haven't postled in a very long time - mostly because I've been really busy anymore. I was a stay-at-home mom for 5 years until dd (now 7) went to kindergarten, so I had...
